Still better than 10 of the Sabres Dmen.

I would rather pay more and get Theodore...but that isn't hapening either.

- IonSabres

Well that was my reaction. I don't have a use for 8M Pietrangelo.

Me neither for the reasons you cited.

Seems like Tanev would be a good get for a couple/three years. I'd be good with him and is alot more realistic. Trade back Cliffy at 50% retained.

What would they want/be able to get in return?
- Ratsreign

I actually like Casey very much.. he has found his game and continues to improve as a two way player. In a perfect world I would love to see him stay with Buffalo, but our roster makeup makes that difficult. Is he a 2nd, 3rd line center? Is he better suited to play wing? I also feel the lack of continuity with the lineup has hurt him overall. Look at his play the end of last season when replacing the injured tage thompson… played his best hockey with quality linemates. He needs to improve some subtle things such as faceoff skill, but I really like his overall game. If we could get a true top 4 defender like Rasmus Andersson… I make that deal today

Gotta take better care of the Ball(Josh) and see what there injuries look like. Haven't heard much on Douglas yet, would hurt losing him.

Jackson told him " "If your not 100%. I got you."

Do we care that he's 34, on a downswing, costs 8 million dollars for 3 more years plus this one and usually plays at a 70 game pace?
- TheSabresTaco

nope

he is the vet type that is good enough in his own end and good enough 5 on 5 to be one of those difference makers we need on d

I love everything about your proposal, except including Kulich. I just think this kid is gonna be a mainstay for the Sabres when he is ready. I would overpay with other players or picks

would you get more of a return for cozens?

esp if you had coasey locked for 5 years

gotta pay for a guy like him

otherwise settle for an older guy on a semi scary contract like Jared Spurgeon or Pietrangelo

See if Montreal will move Justin Barron, they have Reinbacher coming with a few others.

Excellent question. Does Cozens have a NMC in his contract? Cozens is clearly not the player he was last season, but do you trade him when his stock is clearly low… I think it comes down to one or the other. Cozens being signed makes Casey being traded all the more likely.

Cozens was doing fine until he got knocked out. IMO you let a 70pt, 22yo center work through that.

No on Chabot… 8 million is too much for our back line. To me, Calgary isn’t in a good position to bargain… they are saddled with Hubereau, Kadri, and a few 3-4 liners making more than they should… not to mention their soon to be free agents in Lindholm etc… I would be willing to up the ante… but I’m not trading Kulich. Spurgeon and Pietroangelo I have zero interest in.

Looks like his NMC doesn’t kick in until 2027

Agree. Time to make some tough decision as an organization, or sit idol and admit we are in another 3-5 year rebuild

Thanks for the link- that being said… I keep Dylan Cozens and let him work through the issues he’s having. No denying the talent he has. Again- I wish we could keep both players in Cozens and Casey, but the need we have on our defense is glaring. A solid, two way, under contract player like Rasmus Andersson is exactly what the Sabres should be looking for… but I do agree with others that the cost will be hefty
