Flames need to take a stud D to build around. They also need a stud Center!
Hopefully they can turn those UFA’s into more picks. |

You also argued that Brock Faber wasnt much of a prospect when LA sent him to Minn in the Fiala deal and that never aged very well for you. - DEDDIE
What? Why would I be commenting on a trade between the Kings and the Wild? Also, Faber and Casey couldn't be more different. Faber is a big beefy boy who reads the game well and is defence first. That's always a pretty safe bet to transfer to the NHL. Casey is a tiny little guy who's offence first, not great at defence, and is all about the high-risk passes. That's rarely a recipe for success in the NHL. |

Little small for a Defenceman, plus he’s in university so he can become a free agent once he’s done. They should be asking for a guy like Mercer or Holtz from the Devils + the 1st if they’re retaining 50% - K-man25
Jersey isn't giving up Mercer or Holtz plus a first for a pening UFA when their contention window is just opening. One of the 3 maybe, but not 2 of them. That pick could be in the lottery. Deal alone for the pick would need some conditions, let alone conditions for the college kid from Jerseys end needing conditions. |

I wouldn't go that far yet, but the deal isn't as bad as many made it out to be when it happened. Could turn out to be a win for the Flames overall tho. Depends on how extensions and other pieces work out. |

Disagree, should have said extended also and if the Flames are retaining half his salary for this year then that also costs. |

Flames avoided another retirement contract, got a younger player out of the deal. I posted that after he scored that beauty of a shorthanded goal. He then went on to score an even strength and a powerplay goal.

Another great win, they should let the dads party with them the rest of the year!

I was at the game last night and Hubie made some unreal passes.
Hanifin was excellent again last night too and he has transended his game to another level this year. If he moves at the deadline he is going to be a game changer for someone and the price will be significant!
I hope we resign him!

All indications right now say we sign him. Top 4 of Weegar, Andersson, Hanifin and Kylington would be a good start to the retool. |

LOL I wish.
Cool atmosphere in that little barn almost like going to a Jays game in Seattle with all the Flames fans.

Maybe if the Flames trade Markstrom that could free up some cap space to sign Hanifin |

Rather they trade Lindholm, Tanev, Greer, Vladar to free up cap.
Markstrom is playing very well, giving this group a chance. |

Calgary made Arizona look like the team we all expected them to be. If they keep winning do they trade anyone? |

Tanev and Lindholm will be traded, I think they could sell high on Coleman if they wanted to. Greer is also a candidate as is Ruzicka. Some talk of Markstrom’s name being out there, and I’m sure if anyone came asking about Vladar, Conroy would listen.
We’re not winning with this group as it stands, makes zero sense not to get some picks and trying to get younger and faster. |

Hearing Markstrom was asked & he said it would have to be a contender or he would rather stay in Calgary.
I have no problem keeping Hanifin, hes really found a notch up in his game & he's young enough/ Tanev due to age & will get quite a bidding war & I imagine an overpayment & Lindholm who to me has got 1 foot out the door have to be moved.
Rosi would be a minor deal & Vladar will depend on Markstrom. Vladar doesnt have a huge value anyways other than the cap space gained. |
