I know it’s 0-0 but good way to get fired as a head coach:

Think with him we're in the playoffs? I doubt it personally.

I do know the Jets are paying him $8.5M now until 2031 though, so I'd still pass. But you think he's the difference?

Me too.

I will never give term and $$$$ to a position as volatile as Bitcoin.

Who had Connor Ingram, Charlie Lindgren, and whoever the Frank that Daccord dude is in Seattle being top 10 goalies this year ?

It’s a crapshoot.

Where's the table to gamble on this consistency?

Are you concerned that two, 1st overall dmen don't add up to one Makar?

Power is serviceable but lack competitiveness, while Dahlin is silky but doesn't have a brain.

- washedup20

I dk, it isn't great, but an Ekblad and an E. Johnson don't equal a Dahlin either.

There's levels to this. Makar, to me, is the second best player outside McDavid and there's a pretty big gap behind him. As 1OAs go, I think Dahlin is a good one that's getting tired of going hard on losing teams. Power, yes I'm concerned.

Just in case you are going to the game today, the Bills are running a shuttle bus, as not all parking lots around the stadium will be cleared:

- Atomic Wedgie

They should do that more often. The McKinley Mall is a ghost town now anyway.

I think there's a level of tender where it's okay to invest, CH is at or close to that level. However, you're right, from Bob to Price, in a lot of instances these large goalie contracts turn into albatrosses before long. If we were in a position to win a Cup, vs just making the playoffs, I'd be more inclined to gamble like that.

I do think sbroards is right though, couple Helly with a few upgrades around the lineup and we are probably in a lot better shape, if not in the playoffs, right now.

What's your thoughts on Power's chances to turn it around? His adv stats last year showed he has the talent to at least push offense, but do you think he's been figured out or just the sophomore lull?

Winnipeg was the only team giving him that contract, that’s why he is still there.

Right because if we did we'd have to sacrifice someone who doesn't perform or never makes the playoffs here anyways

Remember when that Skinner deal was going to cripple us? It's year 5 and he's the only consistent goal scorer besides Thompson

I hate the idea of taking that to the logical extreme: goalies are a bit random, so don't bother trying.

KA has made no effort. It's not worth the effort isn't a good defense.

I have been told on a regular basis that Skinner and Tage are holding this team back though

If he doesn't learn to play mean he is a 2nd pairing career guy that you'll never hear about. He will never take over a game, or wow you, he just is. That's a bust for a 1st overall.

How much of that is due to the Sabres mismanagement, him playing 2nd fiddle to Dahlin, lack of competitiveness, lack of grit, etc...I don't think he has it in him, he needs a lot of support and development - at a minimum he is 3 seasons away from becoming anything of substance.

Id love to see this place if we had a leaky faucet 34 year old Hellebuyck at $8.5M per.

Not to mention the capital it would have taken to acquire him.

Winnipeg gave him the bag, he stayed there.

Simple as that.

Goaltending isn’t the biggest issue with this team

You think 34 is old for a goalie? How old was Anderson here?

Idk, would you like to revisit this each January for the next 7 years ?

Nobody argued Hellebuyck as an elite goalie right now.

The issue was always term.
