I think that value is acceptable based on his contract. They get a controllable defensive asset in return, one who can be used in their top 4, and a decent prospect and a pick. They want to be good just as soon as we do. A (protected) first round pick from Buffalo doesn't get them there.
- TheSabresTaco

With one year left on his current deal after this season, I guess the suggested deal might work, but using decent prospect as a way to describe what was put in the offer is a stretch.

They've also sat Jokiharju on more than one occasion.

How much value does he really have league wide, especially needing a new deal after this season?

Yeah Krebs is an offensive powerhouse just waiting to be unleashed….I’ll believe it when I see it.

He's the new Red Mullet, except he has brown hair! The Brown flocks flowing as he skates and watches Girgensons miss his passes!

I think meathead is bad for a few players

dahlin, krebs, cozens, joker, and greenway come to mind

The Sabres have enough forward talent to fill out the top 9, and have some left to spare.

If you are bringing in someone like Trenin, it's for the 4th line.

If you want a physical presence in the top 9, they need to aim higher then a player like Trenin.

No more half measures when bringing in players.

- kingcong39

Spot on.
They have a long history of bringing in players and playing them up aine/pairing that their capability permits.
I thought they were going to be over it ..then E Johnson, Cliffy, Okposo, Girgs and Jost were all brought back.
Every fan except 1 could see it, why the FO can't is rather alarming.

Torts interview yesterday on the deadline

“There’s going to be some people upset come deadline when we have to make some moves here bc of where we’re at in the process…We’re talking about where guys fit age wise/contracts…u can’t fall in love bc if u do it’s gonna set u back.”

Adams is literally the opposite of what you need for a GM.

- washedup20

You just can't fall in love with players because it will burn you.

Wow, does Adams remotely understand that?

I agree for the most part, but Trenin does seem to have some talent. And I wouldn't mind seeing for atleast the end of this year if we could get that. The guys a Hammer, he's scored 17 before. If he doesn't work then he drops to the 4th line next year and Kulich takes 3LW.

That's fine That's why I got the other kid in the deal to. Should be ready next year.
- Buff36

What of his current season in the AHL indicates he's any more then a future 4th line player?

His D+1 season last year was also nothing special.

I'd be very disappointed with that return for Mittelstadt.

I love when everyone calls me dense when I’m one of the few that thinks outside of the box and uses foresight and tries to challenge any contemporary mainstream thought or idea.

Philly understands where they are as a franchise and for the sake of potentially sacrificing the present, they are trying to build something sustainable.

Explains the last 24 months of Sabres hockey to a tee

- Swedish_Jesus

What do you think it explains? When's the last time they sold anything at the deadline? Certainly not under Adams, the king of conversations and future considerations.

They do, but on the 4th line.

They need to aim higher for that kind of player to make an impact in the top 9.

We get a top 4 Dman, a 1st next year, a Hammer with some talent and a Power Forward prospect. This team needs some Balls, and I think Trenin brings that along with a bit of talent to go with it. Sabres need to better fill out there whole roster.

A Question for you lon ?
Do you think Tampa would move Cernak with the right Offer extended.

- Buff36

Probably not, unless an overpay is on the table.
He's a pretty unique all around player with alot of toughness, as you already know. Sabres could use it for sure. He would look great next to Power and maybe help coach the softness out of him.
Mitts, Joker, Savoie, +?

The most interesting part of that proposed deal is the 2025 Tampa 1st.
