If Sherfield and Diggs make their catches, it's a different game. They put up a good effort but fell short. It happens, but I'm not blaming McD for this one, personally.

I think that game took a big swing on those back to back dud drives and I put those on the coaches.

A Sherfield catch would have been huge there, but they dug a big hole.

The point is this isn't :13 with errors compounding errors on his part. Or playing the Bengals 15 yards off when they need 8 for a 1st down. He went for it on 4th down early from his ~35. He did everything you want him to do today. It just wasn't good enough.

And this where I'm torn. The issues with McDermott, Tyler Dunne article or no article, didn't just go away, but he's not to blame this one.

I do have second thoughts about Joe Brady though. He did seem to right the ship with the ground game, but there was zero big play ability in this offense outside of Allen, and that includes James Cook. Maybe that's a lack of weapons, but the Bills receivers scared nobody this year, weather it was Kansas City, New England, or even a Giff Smith coached Chargers team.

There are some games where coaching kills you and some games where it only hurts you. This was the latter.

Buffalo all-in-all played a good game tonight, closer to their best than not, but they've been better even this season. Kansas City absolutely played their best game this season and that was the difference.

The question I think you're rightly hitting on is whether any OC - Joe Brady or not - will have actual autonomy over offensive playcalling/philosophy or if that will always rest with McD

The Bills offence completed 50% of their third down conversions, 67% of their 4th down conversions.

Racked up 368 yards of total offence and possessed the ball for nearly 38 minutes.

In 22 minutes of game time the Chiefs punted once and Mahomes had arguably his most efficient playoff game ever.

How is that loss on the offence ?

They tried to do what they did to Dallas and it didn't work. They at least should have unleashed 2 minute hero josh offense in the middle of the third tho

Maybe, but if you look back on his time in Carolina, this offense didn't look much different. He loves him some swing passes, and while they can be effective, a guy like Josh Allen can't be having more completions behind the line of scrimmage than ahead of it.

Now, the flip side of that is, Buffalo's receivers are lacking.

Sure. Like you alluded to, Brady just can't seem to get receivers open or work down the field. It's concerning. Couple drops tonight, but also only a couple shots. When you have Allen, it shouldn't be about converting 3rd and shorts so often.

2nd and 2, Cook for -3 was the moment this game swung, imo.

Bills were 7-14 on 3rd down tonight. Chiefs 1-5. 5!

This truly does sound like Sabres chat now for the Bills.
All seriousness, Allen was great, rest of the team let him down

It's likely going to have to come via the draft. They've got some big cap issues to address next season.

Took Josh's cape off in the 2nd half. They got Josh flowing in the 1st half and seemed to real him in with playcalling in the 2nd half.

It's win now for them. A 40 catch, 500 yard rookie won't do it.

Diggs is either injured or not a good enough #1 anymore, they need a better #1

They got shut out after their first drive in the 3rd quarter. Once Kansas City figured out what they were doing with Cook, they had few answers. Brady's best game was the Dallas game, and that was because Dallas refused to adjust. I'm not at the point where I think he shouldn't get the job permanently. He probably should and likely will, but it's not unreasonable to wonder how deep the well is that he draws from.

Yes, McDumass has to go. If Bellecheat had all this talent, he would have won the super bowl at least a couple of times by now.

Can they afford to make the easy choice again, promote the QB coach? Is that really the best option?

It's not as bad as hiring Ralph's assistant, but you have to wonder.

Agreed, but they just don't have the ability to do that in the FA market. Allen, Diggs and Von Miller all have massive cap hits and you can't move them without significant dead cap (not that moving Allen is even a consideration, just pointing out the numbers). If you do decide to move on from Diggs and/or Miller this offseason, you're surrendering to what amounts to a rebuild.

The issue is at this point, you're either promoting your own QB coach or hiring someone else's. Any of the head coaching candidates are either getting hired or staying put.

Was a Bass shank from hanging 27 points on top 5 defence in football this year.

When your defence gives up 7.7 yards per play, I can’t justify blaming the offence.

Won't pretend to know the options. Wouldn't there be a line to coach Allen?

Just to be a homer, Frank Reich is out there. Gotta think he's better than Matt Ellis.
