What's it matter now, it's over and done with just like every year for the Bills and Sabres. Pretty soon the Sabres will done for also.

McStupid can't beat the Chiefs in the playoffs, he's out coached all the time and the Chiefs know it.

Some Bills fanatics have been known to jump onto tables – sometime set ablaze – while tailgating, but Lehning said there have been erroneous reports on social media that Bills fans were throwing themselves into the pit to extend the football team's winning streak.

"Obviously, that's not logical," he said. "Nobody’s sacrificing themselves or throwing themselves to the pit or anything crazy at all."

Seems like a lot of teams have that problem the last 6 years in the playoffs against them.

Every team covets the versatility, production and playmaking that Mittelstadt provides. And, while contract talks haven’t occurred, Mittelstadt’s preference is to remain in Buffalo.

“There’s really not been any communication,” he continued. “I think Kevyn knows I want to be here. I pretty much bleed Sabres colors and being with this team. My loyalty is to the guys in this room. That’s about all I’ve got right now. I love being here. I love playing here. I love the guys in this room. They’re my brothers.”

Few in the NHL have produced at even strength like Mittelstadt has the past 13 months. Since Jan. 1, 2023, only 13 skaters in the league have more even-strength points than Mittelstadt (68), who has produced more in those situations than elite players like Jack Eichel, William Nylander, Artemi Panarin and Leon Draisaitl.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to CapFriendly.com, the Sabres have $25.018 million in salary-cap space for next season and only four notable pending unrestricted free agents: Kyle Okposo, Zemgus Girgensons, Eric Robinson and Erik Johnson. Their restricted free agents might be costly, though. In addition to Mittelstadt, Buffalo must decide what to do with Peyton Krebs, Henri Jokiharju and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

The Sabres have committed $276.15 million on long-term contracts for Tage Thompson, Dylan Cozens, Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power and Mattias Samuelsson. Beginning next season, their annual salary cap hits are a combined $37.9 million, or, approximately 43% of what the team can spend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the Sabres were to sign Mittelstadt to a five-year contract, they can expect to spend approximately $5.87 million per season, or 6.7% of the salary cap, according to AFP Analytics. His next deal can be compared to the one signed by J.T. Miller when the center re-upped with the Tampa Bay Lightning in June 2018 on a five-year contract worth $26.25 million.

“This has been a progression for him and lots of work for lots of years, really, coming to the forefront,” Sabres coach Don Granato said of Mittelstadt. “What underlines it, other than the work, is compete. He is an ultra-competitive person and very, very driven to succeed. He is in the moment. There is no, ‘Darn it, I missed it. I’ll get it tomorrow.’ He is very dissatisfied if he doesn’t get it now – every puck, every puck battle, every shot, every play.

Sounds about right for Mitts. $6.25-6.5M should be the trading point. Nice hearing he doesn't want to leave though. Some guys would be silent on trade talks. "We'll talk after the year is up" seems to be a common phrase.

I doubt any agent is using a 6 year old contract as part of their negotiating tactics

Mitts agents would be fired from whatever agency they work for if they only get Mitts that type of money and deal...especially on the Sabres...Mitts saying he wants to be here only makes it that much more expensive for Adams. Adams signs those who want to be here to a minmum 7 year deal....its all bull poop and Adams is on the receiving end...every time.

Adams hasn't made a call, nice to like the Guy's in the Room. Adams should have conversations and maybe player's wouldn't be confused.

Why dig so far far back for that comp?

At least they used cap %, so it's not the worst. Thinking KA can get a TB value deal, that's a lot tougher.

UPL is going to demand a hefty raise as well:

5 goalies have at least 20 starts & have given their team a Quality Start in 70+ percent of them.

Quality Start % Leaders
1. UPL: 76.2%
2. Ullmark: 76.2%
3. Ersson: 75.0%
4. Hellebuyck: 72.7%
5. Swayman: 70.8%

(percentage of starts with goals saved above expected).

While even strength, to me, is more important than powerplay points, when you're cutting out power play time (where he's pretty ineffective), it paints a different picture. Couple that with the fact he's basically had a calendar year of this production, and I don't think he can justify using these big names as comps. I'm sure his agent will try, maybe 6.5 is too low by a smidge but I don't think anyone's giving him a $8M deal either.

OOC, what do you think Mitts' best offer would be if we gave him the ability to seek a trade? Think he's offered 7x7 by anyone? I don't. Lots of 5x5s I'd wager.

Should just stick to Percentage of Cap when using comparisons...then they automatically adjust the real $'s.
