The Canucks make a living off of having better goaltending most nights. When the shoe is on the other foot you tip your cap and move on,

Yep, no biggie. They probably even win the game if the ref takes off his blindfold in OT

The first period the Canucks had the Blues bent over for the majority of the time but couldn't get one past Hofer, then the Blues were scoring on limited attempts, that's probably why Desmith was getting blamed.
- NorthNuck

Which is why I made my comment, I saw a defensive break down by the players on the 1st goal. The next was a PP that again wasn't well defended and a cross seam pass got through for an easy goal. Then everyone is chasing a puck instead of playing defense, I can understand Tocchet picking out someone to send a message.

But to get 3 goals in the 3rd to tie was resilient and a sign that the Canucks are a good team with 16 losses that equals the Jets overall.

I personally think the All Star break is coming at a perfect time for the team to do a little reset and come back fresh. Their play hasn't been terrible by any means, but they've been on a little bit of a slump and lucking out with some weak opponents/strong goaltending.

I agree, I think they need a bit of a mental and physical break. Record points pace is hard to keep up for 82 games. They haven’t really had a sustained losing stretch this season.

Hofer was fantastic last night and Pouty looked like he didn't want to play in those hideous helmets.

Thanks York, I have come to the conclusion that I watch a completely different game and team than the game time commenters in here. I swear that when a goal is scored against that no one here looks at the team play, they see a goal against and it’s that was DeSmith fault, that was Myers fault, that was Pettersson fault, talk about drama queens in here.

Great resilience in coming back and getting the tie.

Hey put your Pom poms down, you’re blocking my view of Nighty on his high horse.

They play best in their all black unis, time to make them the regular kit

Would also look very sleek in whites:

Good job Newbie, the Canucks were lucky last night, DeSmith and the team weren't on their game and the result was kind of a culmination of the bad habits that were creeping into their game since the beginning of the homestand. Good that they salvaged a point, and good that they have the All-Star break coming up so that they can reset, have some fun and then RT can have at least 2 or 3 good practice days to get them ready for the stretch run.
- DariusKnight

Thx Yorkie

Shots were a bit misleading there was times we were swarming the Blues. DeSmith was a bit off but cannot play great every game being a cheap back up. Still is a good value. The big boys could use the break to rest up or reset as you say. Great season so far & PO’s will be great experience. As for a cup run they’re in the convo. Lots has to go right for a deep run. Fully expecting fireworks not so sure it has to by the TDL. Offseason fun to come.

Big trade on the Pettersson front:

Traded his stick for another stick. That was about 10-15 games ago though. Old news.

- NewYorkNuck

I’ve thought his stick handling & passing hasn’t been up to snuff. It’s been my female dog for around 20+ games. Suspected his stick was the reason. Not a fan of players experimenting with sticks to find more when it was very good to start with. He’s also pulling up too much & less elusive & why Toc’s comments about skating with more speed. He loses his advantages with his skill set if not moving. It’s a big reason why he’s so dynamic & dangerous. Not worried he’s a smart player but just overthinks sometimes. Just let go & do what comes naturally to him & all will be fine. Whether it’s his wingers or not if a C is flying & drawing D they feed off off of it vs adjusting to changes in the flow. All & all the team is doing great & winning in ways good to great teams do. Boeser has slowed down but he’s also been bitten by goals called back all good that’s the cookie crumbling. At times the D of late is showing signs of slowing down. Again not a big concern after a great season to date. Probably the effects of a great start & tired somewhat. Allstar break comes at a good time for the stretch drive & some tough games to come.

Again, a lot of bad habits that were creeping up in their wins previous bit them in their ass against St. Louis. DeSmith is a capable and competent backup but all 4 goals were the result of lazy play away from the puck, letting checks go and DeSmith having an off night. The All-Star Break is the perfect time to get some rest, get some good 2 or 3 practice days in to work on systems play and reset for the stretch drive.

Not a great game by 95% of the team, Pettersson was awful in OT, they were lucky to get a point out of that. On a positive note, Quinn Hughes, kids an amazing player.

With two assists tonight, Captain Quinn becomes the 8th fastest defenceman in NHL history to 300 NHL points (331 games).”

Watch out you’ll face the ire of Booner pointing out Petey. TYIA for helping me not be his lightning rod that is unless he’s still got his tunnel vision on high alert. 😂😂🤪👍

“Perry was dropped by the Blackhawks for flirting with an NBC staff member while intoxicated on a road trip with the team in Columbus.”

So now we know. No biggy.

- bloatedmosquito

Big deal & glad the hens know why but will it stop them? Nope cuz where is the fun in that for them 😂

Was there a missed call on Petey in OT or was he just falling down all the time again lol?

As for Hughes the kid is just money having a Norris style year like Makar did a few years back. Remember a few of us said 4-5 years ago Hughes would be in the Norris conversation and most of the champs had a good laugh...

Look at it now.

- LordHumungous

A bit of both got shoved & he goes down a lot. He’s not great at strong on his feet he is a lil light framed & don’t see it changing. Just was bad timing & the call could go either way. Doesn’t matter take the point in a game they chased when they just didn’t have a 60min game in them against a lesser team that was bigger & harder to handle.

He should probably keep using the shorter stick then I guess
- NorthNuck

Would help him not whiff on so many one timers imo but wtf do I know. Just speculating.

Thanks NYN. Simple explanation is Canucks got complacent with easier opponents.

After the all star break they should be back to playing focused and harder.

Still amazing getting points in these lower effort games. One more blah opponent to get up for and then rest and reset.

- Quinn's Quest

I rather say the wear & tear of the great season to date caught up to them & still signs of a lil tired. Mentally drained maybe & to be expected. They’ve gotten great results & cannot take that away from them. 82 game season has its challenges all teams face.

For all his versatility, having the Swiss Army Knife Pius Suter signed for only $1.6M plus another year is great “money puck” cap management by Allvin & the #Canucks. Great return on value.

- VANTEL

Hard to argue against that. 1 of many signings PA has done to change up the roster. Unraveling has turned into building & on a very good trajectory. GM of the year good.

Petey was thrown off by all of Nighthawks hurtful comments yesterday.
- VANTEL

Yup so should I refrain from busting his balls wanting more from him as he wants the same? Some in here see it as knocking him I see it as driving & striving for more. Is their a problem with that? I cite Sid the kid as a great example of the elite consummate pro who is all world even at his age today.

I thought they played way better than against the hawks, people like to complain I see it everywhere I go 😆
- Bettmanhatesus

Beat the Hawks a bottom feeder as we should. There was signs this last game was possible. Cannot be up for every game playing great hockey. Been a busy great season.

He was sorta low hanging fruit & didn’t come up huge at that point in the game. Not to be blamed. Blues were opportunistic just like Canucks have been lots of this season. Just another test that they battled back from. Good teams do that.

... and here we go. Fires shots at the same time as whining about me being hard on him.

Comments about tunnel vision from you as you wake up and right back to Petey for the 65th day in a row.
