The Jason Richardinson and a 2024 2nd round pick to Chicago had me a bit worried. He turned that trade into Josh Bloom who was a late 3rd round pick. Not great.

He sucked in Vancouver and moving his salary gave him a million in flexibility if I remember correctly. At the end of the day it all worked out. #longgame

Some people don't like being in the center of attention or a media scrum. Van media and their fans like to make it into something it's not (while also making it about themselves too)

It seems as if a few in here like to make it into something it’s not, he will sign when he signs or not sign when it’s time.

The "alien death stare" was clearly created out of love for the Van media.
- manvanfan

That's clearly a name created by fans or media, so again refer to my last post. Also if reposrters asked me about a contract every day, and ive already said not until the end pf season multiple times im not sure i would be nice. Doubt many of us would.

I think he's priced himself out of Vancouver at this point, would have to be a serious hometown discount to work.

If you move out Kuzmenko and Mik that is 10 mil in salary out the door, right around what Reinhart should be paid.

For the most part this season, both of those guys haven't played up to their potential or lived up to their contracts. But I think there's a greater chance that either guy or both heat up or starting playing and finishing at a more consistent level.

I'd rather hedge my bets on that happening than going out and getting rid of either guy, spending a ton of assets we don't really have to acquire a new guy who will "hopefully" outscore/outplay them either.

I'd say stay away from the blockbuster, keep giving milky and Kuz their chances, go after a couple depth guys like: Bogosian, Lyubushkin, Savard, Duclair - id like Mantha or Vatrano but I think they'll be costly.

Reinhart is a free agent in the summer. No assets wasted.

The Canucks are definitely in an awkward spot of being really good, but not having the flexibility to just dump assets to go all in without completely emptying the cupboards.

I agree they should go for depth, get a C or 2 and another depth D

Just like the team changed a lot last off season. More can happen next one with all the free agents. So yeah you can add trades too from Canucks. More teams can trade with cap going up too.

There is just over a month to the TDL, the Canucks are going on another all important road trip, if they play poorly then look at addressing what needs to be better. If they have a good showing maybe only minor moves need to be made or stand pat.
Why does there always have to be big moves to fix something that isn't broke? And before anyone jumps in with do you think the present team is good enough for a playoff run, yes would be my answer.

Yup I agree - I like the consistency and make up of this team. I think the only thing really missing from them being a powerhouse is Milky and Kuzy just heating up a little and playing to their potentials. Maybe a bit more offence from Aman, Zadorov and Hronek = PP goals

Bring in a couple depth guys for the end of the season - playoffs.

There's some really good deals out there for guys how would fit right in here. (Dowd, Edmunson, Novak, Dursi, Kubalik, Jenner would be a sweet grab - has a decent contract)

All top teams seem to make improvements at TDL. It is not really what I would say as fixing but more along the lines of improving.

My proposal for Reinhart is an offseason move not TDL. It is to improve on Kuzmenko and Mikhevey. Get more value for your ten million dollars.

They could add some toughness for the playoffs because it seems to be a different game come playoffs.

I know we are just a bunch of fans and schmucks tossing ideas but Canucks management seem to have a handle of things and seem to know what is best.

Honestly, just whoever is best suited to Tocchet's coaching style. Every player that meshes with him has succeeded so far this year.

I personally like Jenner also but about two weeks ago there was a fair amount of pushback on why to avoid him. No matter what name gets thrown out there will be two sides, for and against the proposal.

Last year was a big year for turnaround, this year will be even bigger.

I am a fan of Zadorov but I think his stay is short term just because of salary. That is why I like that Russian kid in Montreal.

I like Podz and think he is just beginning to really get the gist of North American hockey now but I have a feeling he is on the block.

Some good things are going to happen in the next eight months.

I agree, just commenting my thoughts. I prefer to see something happen in the off season because we know that Allvin can't have everyone return.

It's too bad Perry was grabbed by Edmonton, playoff performer and tough as nails.

I am a big Perry fan. Have been for years. I will say I think with Kane and Perry Oilers are going to be hard to beat. IMO

I think Perry has less of an impact nowadays than you might think. He's gotten so old and slow but is still a liability when it comes to PIMs. He chips in a few points but really the biggest difference he's made in the playoffs over the last few years was kneeing Tavares in the head.

Long gone are the heydays of Baldy and Douchey dominating in Anaheim

That would be satisfying. It really is a shame Tom Wilson is signed to that godawful extension, trading for him would have been a fun all-in type move for Van to make.
