Friedman on Saturday headlines during the Leafs 2nd INT said the smoke around Buffalo is real.

They are looking to make immediate upgrades to the roster to help now.

They have not given up on the season, but it seems too little too late to right the ship.

Adams needed to show this urgency this past offseason

well, they should, because the coaching is not extracting quality play

At the same time, nobody of substance really moved this past offseason.

Adams was in on Chychrun last year.

I firmly believe there has been an intent to add to the roster this entire time, but the right situation hasn’t presented itself.

And if Hanifin isn’t a Sabre because it take Dylan Cozens, I can see why Adams has done (frank) all

He got a similar response when he asked about the Chicken man last season, then tucked his tail between his legs and complained that he got asked for more then another team who ended up getting him for less, because he never circled back.

I fully believe Adams so-called 'trying' has been minimal at best.

What if they see him as their top 2 C/W?

Interchanging on the 2nd or 1st line at Center or Wing?

- kingcong39

Any reason to think they do? He pretty much never plays with Cozens and is 3C with a gaping hole on the top line.

To some extent, extending him is an indictment on their prospects.

Did they only play Tage on the wing last season with Casey at Center due to Tage's injury, or was that also a trial run for the future?

1000% injury. No question at all.

Arizona did him a solid and dealt him to his “hometown” Senators.

They did ask for more from Buffalo.

89 confirmed they asked for Savoie ++

All three of Mitts, Cozens, and Tage have C/RW/LW versatility.

The earliest we have to worry about the cap is two years from now.

Cap space should not be a factor in whether or not Mitts is extended.

Skinner is either bought out or traded within the next two years, problem solved

If cap space is a concern in 2 years and you're extending him for more than a year, then it's a concern.

They asked for that the first time.

Did Adams continue to go back and talk to see if the price dropped, or did he give up on the first try?

I’ll pack Skinner’s things for him.

Could pack Samuelsson and Clifton’s things too.

Keeping a Mittelstadt and paying him is the exact reason you hoard prospects and do the ELC slide.

You don’t let a potential Reinhart 2.0 situation happen because you are scared of what your cap looks like two years from now.

Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund, Whalberg, Neuchev, and I’m assuming Berkly Catton will make next to nothing at that point

How many assets and how much cap would it cost to get rid of Skinner, Clifton and Samuelsson?

Not quite the easy button you seem to be making it out to be.

Skinner and Clifton could be bought out 2 years from now when we get to that bridge

In a league where Risto can get a first round pick, I expect a team to take on 4 years (at that point) of Samuelsson in a rising cap world. He will put up much better underlyings when he isn’t see one of the toughest workloads in the entire NHL on top of that

Pegulla buying out a contract and it not effecting their budget.....what are we even doing here?

This is a budget team.

Samuelsson is probably going to need to play more than 60 games before having a good reputation league wide.

Nearly a $6M dead cap hit the first of the 2 years of the Skinner buyout.

It’s a budget team because the jamoke works backwards.

If they are a legitimate playoff team, I don’t see why he won’t cash those cheques.

How much did he pay Von to try to put the Bills over the top ?

Bills make money. From the moment he fired JB, they've been a budget organization from top to bottom.

Think it's a very safe bet they don't have a buyout in their long term budget. Buyouts don't come without a hit either.

So it saves you $3M in year one and almost the full cap hit in year 2.

Still better than the full $9M and by that point we are better off with the free roster spot.

Yeah cause he threw money to see if it would stick and hired idiots and now is scared of his own shadow.

Nobody wins in the league without spending to the cap ++. Lightning and Vegas had like $10-15M LITR space and laundered their cup wins
