It's reminiscent for sure. He did show more flashes last year and the year prior than Tage did before his explosion...but this is definitely a huge rise. Always thought the kid had it in him, I'm a little worried he regresses a bit next year (or sooner). At the same point, he looks so much more poised now I wonder if this is just who he is now.

One of the bright spots either way. Him and Petey lol.

Everyone wants these guys on their teams, and it’s difficult to trade for these guys for a reason.

I’d take a Foligno or tkachuk any day …..

Since Dec. 30, Luukkonen is 7-5-0 with a 1.60 goals against and .941 save percentage.

Internal competition between him and Levi will only make them better. Gunna be a solid Tandem.

So while they may be easily identified, it's reaching that deal I don't trust Adams to do. I mean, I'd love to have Nathan MacKinnon...looks like a good leader who expects a lot out of his teammates, great competitor, highly skilled...

He's just not going anywhere. I'd think Brady Tkachuk would be a great add, but don't see Ottawa selling him within the division for anything short of a king's ransom. Are there any guys who come to mind that are rumored at least to be available which would qualify? I can't think of one tbh. At least no one that checks all the boxes we are looking for.

Edit: Stamkos isn't moving but we could try and sign him...I doubt he even entertains coming here though.

Fwiw, heard through the grapevine that the Avs want to go for it and are willing to pay for Guentzel or Mitts.

What do we think of Byram and Girard? (wouldn't be both, just the names being tossed around)

I now don't understand the rumored pursuit of a 1A Goalie (Saros). A 1B / BU for 1 year, sure.

They need at least 1 Top 4 RhD...maybe 2. That and a rugged, 2 way middle six winger...even that is further down the line than those 2 top needs.

Those are the right type to acquire, Foligno is too old.
M Tkachuk isn't being moved, but his brother Brady might be.
There are others.

IMO, the key is ID'g the right guy...then, with all this redundancy in assets, make a play with a substantial package of assets.

This, it costs too much tells me they are unsure if it is the right guy. Of course it costs alot, tighten the belt on the big boy pants and make a franchise altering move...or waste away a shot ton of assets being indecisive.
