I don't think skating has ever been his strong suit, and I doubt it's been getting better this past year. They might sign him to a contract in Abby and wait the three weeks to see how he adjusts to sign him before the TDL... but I don't really see how he's going to be a fit here.

Thanks Yorkie, lots of Leaves fans chiming in about Kessel. Guess they forgot when he left and was a key to playoff success in Pitt depth guy with experience for free? I’ll take it!

He was a good skater years ago but it's really not his calling card anymore.

The only guys opinion on whether he fits that matters is Tocchet. We will see, probably a good call to trust his opinion at this point.

A quick look at who Pettersson has spent the most time playing with this year tells you there should be no problem fitting him in if he's still able to play.
- NorthNuck

I'd say PDG goes onto waivers and is most likely claimed. If they do sign Kessel. Only played in 4 playoff games last year for Vegas.

"Where will Phil Kessel fit?" asks the fan of the contending NHL team currently playing Pius Suter as a first line winger and a platoon of Nils Höglander and the ghost of Ilya Mikheyev as their 12+ million dollar franchise centre's left winger.

If Kessel is signed, slotting him into the lineup will be interesting.

We got our top line of the Joshua Three.
We got the all Swedish line. How patient will Toc be here tho.
Maybe you could have him play with his countrymen jtm and boeser?

Or rotate him onto the 4th line between Suter with Lafferrty, PDG and Mikheyev.

Getting rid out f Mikheyev would be the easiest move.

Did you just take that from comments section at CA?

Also, if anything, it is the Blue line, even though Garland stirs the drink for that line.

Yes. Credit where it’s due. I think it was from an article, I don’t read the comments
I think Dak and Garland have been more important than the Centre.

After that Geordie Howe hat trick last night, had me considering if Joshua could be that PWF we’ve been looking for.

Going to be even more line juggling if Kessel comes in

5v5 scoring since Lindholm was acquired 5 games ago. (I did not include two random lines that played 20 seconds and were on the ice for a goal against)

Joshua Blueger Garland 4-1 (3-0 in yesterdays game after I called them out)
Hoglander-Lindholm-Pettersson 1-0
Hoglander-Pettersson-Suter 3-3
Pettersson-Lindholm-Mikheyev 0-2
Suter-Miller-Boeser 1-0

He's been a late bloomer for sure. Him and Garly have good chemistry, would like to see them re-sign him. They adjusted hits the other week (did an audit or something) and he's sitting pretty at 2nd in the league now for most hits

He has proven to be very effective as a solid 3rd liner. Do you think he gets Garland money, or Mikheyev money?

Shorty mentioned that a few games ago, they were looking at several stats, including shots and as you mentioned, hits.

If Canucks do add Kessel lines could go something like

Kessel Miller Boeser
Hoglander Lindholm Pettersson
Joshua Blueger Garland
Lafferty Suter Mikheyev

Dzone starts Suter can replace Kessel.
