The level of disrespect EP40 gets from you is so laughable, I wonder if you even watch hockey. He doesn't play a certain way, so you don't like it, I get that, but to outright just say he hasn't been their best forward over the past twenty games is mind-boggling.

Since January 1st 2024, nineteen games in total, Pettersson has 26 points and he's been +8, while taking important face-offs, killing penalties, working the PP, all the while averaging almost 20 minutes in ice-time. Those other guys have half the points and about five minutes less in ice-time.

It takes a team to win, I get it, you need everyone to contribute. Your hockey takes are just comical.

There are far worse than him on here.

You nailed it on Petey though. Even with him not playing to his full potential... he's still the best since new years when everything is considered. We can all have different opinions on that but when you consider that in the sample size mentioned he has been getting the most ice time of all forwards, RT obviously sees it that way.

He definitely has hot stretches. The part that makes him great is that even when he is not at his best he finds a way to put up points. In the last 2 seasons he only has 2 months where he was under a point-a-game pace, and both times it was only by a single point
- NorthNuck

I didnt know that. Pretty impressive.

I just did the math, if he paced how he did last year from March onwards, he's actually on pace for 2 fewer points, so he would be bang on 100
- NorthNuck

1.28 last year ppg.
1.28 this years ppg.

If he broke 100 last year in 80 games. I'd imagine he would do it as long as he doesn't miss anymore than 3 games.

Most teams lock up their top talent a year in advance is the only reason it's the first time.
- golfingsince

Honestly, not a bad point. Remember when Allvin said he wasn't a star player?

You mean my takes like I said earlier this season, that it is nice to have 2 top players like Miller and Pouty that can be put on separate lines, so the team has 2 quality lines, sort of a 1a/1b situation, which by the way, is something you just repeated a page or so back.

Also, you are way to easy for someone who trolls at much as yourself.

I would suggest before some of you start planning Petey's 100 point celebration party you go take a look at the rest of the schedule.

It's hard to quantify EP's worth. He's a very good player but some question where he even sits in the pecking order of top players on the Canucks.

People typically don't question that for the top players in the game.

I have been fairly non-critical, this season, as I am actually enjoying this run of success, but I did complement both him and Hughes a few times this season, although not so much over the past 20 games or so, as the best players over that timeframe have been the entire 3rd line, along with Hronek and Juulsen.
- Reubenkincade

Tongue and cheek Reuby, as anyone that actually watches the Canucks, know there will be games when players are phenomenal, great, good, average, and poor. It is the overall game, and how the players play over the entire season and playoffs that I believe should be evaluated.

The five games since the all-star break haven't been overly dominant for the team as a whole. Although last night was probably the the best the team has competed but it was Chicago

This season they called him a top 5 player when on his game.

Sometimes it's better to just keep their mouths shut.

Everybody has their own bias. Except for me, I'm far too cold to have actual favorites. I like players that have the best all around games but at the same time, it's just what you bring and what you're worth to me.

In terms of all around players, there isn't many anymore that are at the highest offensively and defensively.

The best two all around players IMO right now are Barkov and Crosby. They score and can be trusted in all assignments.

Kucherov, McDavid, Mackinnon are unworldly offensively but nobody is talking about how great their 200 foot games are ever.

Pettersson is in the Marner category that they have elite all around games just not generational.

When you consider the people and their bias history on here, it really means very little.

Excluding goaltending (because it's really it's own thing), Quinn Hughes is the most important player on the team. That makes it a really weird scenario to imagine Petey making 1.5X what he does, but that really just is the market for players at his position putting up the points he does.

I personally think Pastrnak and Nylander are the best comparisons you can make in terms of play, but they were both pending UFAs, so maybe there is some wiggle room to be on the lower end. Frankly it probably doesn't matter what he makes, anywhere from 10.5-12.5 mil is basically a wash with the cap going up.

End of the day, I kind of feel like we might be headed for a 3/4/5 year extension at a lower cap hit as opposed to a long term deal

You only have to listen to RT's post games to hear this on a regular basis. People dismiss this fact when it comes from posters on here but praise RT for being a good coach for this team. RT talks about the ups and downs of an 82 game schedule. He hates the unreasonable negative focus on what is ordinary in his experience.

Canucks next 28 games they play these teams.

VGK 3
Bost 1
Dal 1
AVS 3
WPG 3
LA 3
OIL 1
CAL 2

I think you have to be nuts to say Canucks will get this amount of wins or Petey will get this amount of points. This is a tough schedule.

I didn't like Tocchet, but he has proven to be what this team needed, plus I also like his post-game interviews. Very realistic, plus he basically told to that idiot Drance to fuck off, without having to say so.

From a players stand point, Hughes should fire his agent. Petey's agent played their hand far better is all. Not what fans and GM's want to hear but Hughes going long term didnt work out for him. The bridge is going to work out for Petey though.

It's hard to argue with the results that Tocchet has gotten out of many of the players and the team.

The remaining question is when it comes down to the meaningful game, will he get out coached.
