While Lou's history is evident with the Devils and the Leafs. And yes, there probably should have been a little retool. The owners are only a few year into a new build.

The opinion is probably a veteran laden team would be the better option. just saying.

Maybe, or it’s just Lou doing the same thing he’s done with every other team he has been the GM of. I don’t even mean that as a jab at him it’s just reality.

True, we are all speculating based upon the evidence before us. Again, at this stage, it would be best to let ROY evaluate this team the rest of the way. I do think Lou will value his opinion.

Come the trade deadline draft you go to a Keep Em, Move them, Get rid of them. Fill the holes and try to restock farm system. Free Agency try and get that elusive top line winger.

Lou is on record as saying he’d make a hockey trade if it improves the team long term. He’s not a sellers GM. He’s gonna add to this team at the deadline if something becomes available.

Stefen Rosner
@stefen_rosner
#Isles HC Patrick Roy giving it to Pierre Engvall for turning his back on the puck and not opening up.

First time I've seen Roy do that, the way he just did.

You could hear a pin drop.

Old habits die hard.

Couldn’t be more against it but you’re probably right.

Softy Pierre is not a Patrick favorite.

I’m with ya, but I think we’re married to it at this point. I’d be interested to see what they do with Wahlstrom by the deadline.

At this point he has little value. He would just be a throw in if Lou pulls the trigger on something. Maybe he’ll find his game somewhere else doesn’t seem like he’ll do it here. I would love to be wrong about that.

The owners have the power to divorce Lou. Lou is 81 years old. How much longer does he want to be a GM? Bill Torrey was forced out and he actually helped turn the Islanders around before he left. This Islander team is not heading in the right direction.

Very difficult to be consistent when you have Lee and Pierre in the top 6. Lot of pressure on Barzal, Bo, Dobson, Nelson, and Sorokin.

I guess so. I would understand if Lou was chasing that 1st Cup. He has 3 though.

Yep!

Being against giving 7 years to Pierre and Mayfield was over the top.

He’s a competitive dude. That’s why he’s had a successful career. It is his passion. It’s probably not work for him the guy loves what does.

This is all true. Have to think things get much harder at this stage of Lou's career though. You get more locked in and not open to change.

Like I always say he’s better than what we’ve seen recently but he was never 7 year contract good.

I do not doubt he would or will do it. I just think to spend more resources for this current team would be a mistake. I do not believe they are one or two players away from a contender this year. But I am an internet GM and that is why I am here, and he is there.

Agreed but still hoping we see some kind of turn around on this season. Hopefully starts today against these schmucks.

I have to agree. Best course is to sell what you can if playoffs are not looking good and hold onto the picks and let Roy have the rest of the season to evaulate.

The playoffs aren't looking good. The three point games give the illusion of it being closer that it really is. The Isles will need to win two thirds of their remaining games to have a chance.

Yep. They can do it if they somehow got their crap together but it’s a long shot at this point.

Start time for #Isles vs. #NYR Stadium Series will be around 3:45ish.

A bit of a delay.
