lol..
Mitchy already has 50 more pts than Wendel, and he’s played 250 fewer games
Mitch will end up with the most pts all-time as a Leaf. He’ll
Finish his career between Yzerman and Thornton. 1st ballot HOFer 100%
You guys don’t deserve him. |

In the biggest non-surprise of the year, Bettman held up the 5 game suspension to Rielly.
The league is such a farce. Everything is optics and nothing is actual policy or process. |

Last playoffs.
Plays hard now, has been snake bitten.
He is not vaccinated though so you will never like him - Santo_44
He doesn’t play hard. He doesn’t win puck battles. He has trouble getting the puck out of our zone and from the neutral zone into the opposition end. He’s slow on the forecheck and doesn’t have a great shot. He’s been better in the last few games and I’m hopeful he builds on it. |

Mitch could very well end up there by the end of his career, but not there yet
Surprised a bit that someone like you who values toughness and compete level, doesn’t have more respect for the intangibles that Wendel displayed

I'm sure Willy, Mitch, John and Auston will buy his next meal to compensate him...actually...maybe not John with that whole CRA thing. |

It’s possible that they all get hit with the same tax problem.

The bolded is about 80% more likely than the latter. The third, will definitely be interesting. Giroux/Tavares etc. are guys people talk about as potential HOFer's, so a healthy and let's just give him some leeway and say "consistent 90+" point Marner would be on pace to be well above those two at the end of the day. |

Trudeau should start a Canadian professional hockey league.
10 teams in Canada
4 teams in Europe
Halifax
Quebec City
Montreal
Toronto
Thunder Bay
Regina
Saskatoon
Calgary
Vancouver
Stockholm
Riga
Berlin
London
Smaller cities gets 12,000 seat arenas
Teams are owned by fans and players
There’s a salary cap, but each team can pick one player they drafted to not count against the cap.
Junior players decide which draft they want to go into. With Canadian kids having an incentive to stay, tax breaks? Better money? More fun?
(frank) the NHL. It’s all fake now, we just don’t want to admit that we watch the closest thing to WWE, and it’s definitely fixed just based on no Canadian team winning in 31 years.

I think we first need to define what the criteria are for putting someone up there.
I will always love Wendel for bringing back pride and "give-a-poopness" to Maple Leaf Gardens, but he's nowhere near being a Hall of Famer, so there would easily be 4 guys ahead of him on a Leafs Mt. Rushmore if you are putting them up there for skill. |

Bettman upholds the 5-game suspension.
So that's good news for the Las Vegas and Phoenix games. |

Because he's primarily an assist guy he probably gets more overlooked than other players. Adam Oates is one of the top-100 players of all time as selected by hockey writers, and yet those same hockey writers passed him over for the HHoF at least twice before selecting him in 2012.
In a lot of ways I liken the Marner-Matthews dynamic to that of Oates and Hull. You have an elite passer and elite sniper combination that is increasingly lethal the more and more they get to know each other.

1. The logistics behind this proposal are, unfortunately, preposterous - and not backed by a strong enough dollar to make it worth the enormous expense of attempting to compete with the NHL. It would be the CFL of professional hockey leagues - basically full of college kids who weren't good enough to make it anywhere else.
2. We say this in Canada, but it just doesn't stack up. There are 32 teams. There were 30, and 28 and so on . . .but it wasn't officiating that denied Vancouver, Ottawa or Edmonton their cups. The Rangers, Ducks and Canes were all simply better.
I mean last year there was no team hotter than the Oilers going into the playoffs, but they were very much a feast or famine based on special teams - and when there was a large disparity in their favour, the Oilers cruised. When there was a large disparity against them - they'd lose. The Vegas series was pretty much that - affected heavily by the spectacular goaltending of Aidan Hill and mediocre goaltending of Stuart Skinner.
There are an awful lot of NHL referees who are Canadian and an awful lot who are retired. If there were instructions to screw over Canadian teams, you think they'd all just happily keep their mouths shut?

I take it personally that you forgot the last Canadian team who gloriously made it to the final.
