I'm convinced if he somehow buried some of his chances to begin the year, it would be a whole different story for him. He's a known streaky player but he was playing well the first two months without getting any results.
- Scabeh

Yeah, he was playing well and not getting the result.

Then he scored a bunch.

Now he is invisible out there.

Anderson, and his contract, are perfect examples of what happens when a GM falls in love with potential. Anderson has plenty of that potential, mostly unfulfilled, sadly....

Newhook seems to be in a similar way, with tons of exciting aspects to his game, but never really reaching the expectations. Colorado gave up on him, one must hope being in Montreal works out better for him over time. Jury is still out on him.....

TDL will be interesting, as moving a goalie is not the only work that might get done. Anderson would be a great addition to a club going into a playoff run, except for that term left on his contract, but maybe.... Might see a trade involving some D players, but the bottom six of the forward group is terrible, so doubt any of them get moved.

Two more years of bad contracts still......then it will get interesting.

with the huge difference that Newhook was starting to do great before he crashed in that net !

Yeah, Newhook on the wing with Dach and a player to be acquired next season should work just fine imho.

The good news about our current costly contracts who aren't producing is that we don't currently need the money to compete because our core isn't ready.

In a year or two though? Buyouts or trades might need to happen.

They have been pretty good thus far ( the management) lets see now if they can switch to great by finding a way to get rid of one of : Armia, dvorak, allen

Then Gallagher and or Anderson next year... ?

So Newhook is actually a winger, not a centre......I tend to agree.

Yes, Anderson is grossly overpaid.....and Hughes did not overpay for the potential in Newhook.

I mean, he CAN play centre.... and maybe after a while on the wing he figures some things out like Dach did last year.

But from what we've seen, I think his speed and assets are a better fit on the wing.

I suspect they will want to load up the top 6 next year to see what they got. And that includes Newhook in the top 6 for now.

Besides, with Dvorak around, I think he is a winger.

I can see him potentially as a 3rd line center, after Dvorak is gone (or injured again), if/when we solidify the top 6 with more talent.

btw, these 2 would work perfectly on a line imo. speed, north south...

To have an idea of where Newhook might fit, look at any current top club in the league, do you see Newhook as a centre on them? Nope....he is a winger, pure and simple.

Depends on how you want to build your depth and who they have available as top 6 wingers.

The argument could be made he is a middle 6 winger or center.

Either way, gives them flexibility as they build out the roster and / when injuries occur..

Yeah, I'd throw Armia out there with them and call it a day.

EDIT:

Looks like it will be Roy-Newhook-Anderson

Fairly quiet day.

Was super busy earlier.

Now pretty dead.

Playing with the cat.

About to see what I want to make for lunch.

That has been the exciting points of my day, so far.
