I like the idea that Santo put out about Roy since he's kinda not been mentioned much.

So in line with that, how does Anthony Mantha track as a 3c for some of you fellas?

Might be easier to get a Mantha and Roy type deal done than competing for some of the other more talked about players.

Knies, Matthews, Marner
Bert, Tavares, Nylander
Domi, Mantha, Jarnkrok
Gregor, Kampf, McMatthews

Rielly, Roy
Beniot, McCabe
Gio, Brodie

Michael Rasmussen signed a four-year, $12.8 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. It has an average annual value of $3.2 million.

The 24-year-old forward could have been a restricted free agent after this season. He has 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) and is plus-11 in 55 games.

The No. 9 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, Rasmussen has 109 points (47 goals, 62 assists) in 56 games, all with Detroit. He has yet to appear in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Red Wings (29-20-6) play the Colorado Avalanche at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; BSDET, ALT2, SNP, SNO, SNE). They've won two in a row and three of five and hold the second wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference.

all this suspension talk is nauseating. WHo's better Nylander or Marner?
- drexel

Huh, I never thought of comparing them. I love both players.

LeBrun just said on TSN that Fleury would lift his NTC for the Canes, AVS or Leafs. I must say, I am seriously perplexed at the idea. Acquiring a big, tough stay at home D would be optimal imo, but if that fails... Fleury can choke sometimes, but when he is on a hot streak he can very much cover for a lot of defensive lapses.
- The Judge

The thing with Fleury is he is on final year of his contract, waives his NTC, and he makes 3.5 exactly what Samsonov makes. I still don't trust Sammy even while on a bit of a run here. I'd flip goalies there, likely late pick sweetener in a straight up deal.

Still able to go and try and shore up the defence then too and maybe find a 3rd line center ( move Domi up with Nylander and JT, he's more an offensive player after all and playing good as of late )

As for Bettman hopefully with the Arizona fiasco ongoing and owners having already been reported before they were annoyed with him, maybe we finally get weasel boy out of the job soon. Not surprised though with the ruling, like he was going to undermine his own dops. Same as there's no problem with the reffing in the league despite it being at an alltime low poop show.

You could blindly argue that the stats suggest Nylander is a vastly superior penalty killer based on his GA/60, SA/60 and his GF/60 stats being absurd.

Of course if you're truly realistic then you have to admit that Marner and Kampf come out at the start of the PK and play the hardest 40-50 seconds against the opposition's top line, then you have Gregor-Jarnkrok popping in 30-40 seconds before Matthews and Nylander come out against the tired second pair or the exhausted top-pair. Either way, Matthews and Nylander are being treated with kid gloves on the PK - but it's no small matter that they are posting exceptional results at it. All sorts of forwards are in the same tail-end PK role as Matthews and Nylander but they don't have results even close to theirs.

The other advantage that Nylander has right now is that the other teams don't know how to read his tendencies yet, so it gives him an advantage on terms of how he approaches lanes. Marner they sort of have a book on - you'll notice when Marner is up high on the PK there are not very many cross-ice blue line passes - because he reads those very well. Teams now will go low-to-high to get him moving and create room if they want to go cross-ice at the point.

Marner and Wlly both very good players - one must go though.

…just saw the Ullmark rake across face (maybe accidental) and then the chop (all day on purpose) with a goal stick on Eyssimonts head. Not much press but Jesus that wasn’t a good look for the nhl to just give him a fine for it. Clear retaliation cause Ullmark thought he ran into him inside crease (and he did) and then it was a 2 part retaliation. Yikes.

Just watched Karlsson score a wrap around into his own net. Poor Dubas.

This game feels like a must win for Pitt or it's time to pack it in for the year.

To de-nerd that and be honest to your sort of joking response - I believe that stats can be used to tell you things you might not notice - as a good example, the things that Holl can be good at it. What stats will never tell you, for example, is the maddening inconsistency of a Justin Holl or Jake Gardiner. How good they can be one minute and how they can be the dumbest person on the planet in the next (especially in Gardiner's case).

A lot of the time if you don't apply situation and observation to the stats they'll lead you down the garden path. As much as a lot of people believed that Dubas was a nerd who didn't look at the games, he said pretty much that same thing - stats and advanced stats were very useful tools in gauging trend, trajectory or the unseen / unnoticed, but you have to be watching the games as well to see what you actually see.

I’m still shocked that one of our 11 year olds pulled off the Michigan in our playoff semifinal this weekend

Funny thing is that was the first time he ever tried it in a game - 1 for 1 👍

I wish I knew how to post the vid
