Kings look to be getting things back on track after their coaching change. PL Dubois looks way more engaged, he was clearly having issues with the Kings former coach, 2 goals 3 assists in his last five games, starting to heat up.

A lot of good teams in the West the Canucks are gonna have to get through to advance in the playoffs.

Just in time to play all their games against Canucks. No easy games for them here on out. Maybe that will make them playoff ready.

I thought only bad teams made the playoffs.

Thanks for this knowledgeable comment.

Much like your legs, your brain is severely underdeveloped, you constantly need to be spoon fed information. Some years you can have wildcard teams with points in the 80’s and some years you can have wildcard teams with points in the high 90’s. The strength of the field is not always the same…but you keep doing you.

It was a good game, Bruins almost blew a 4-1 lead, ended up winning it in OT. Another game with two good teams...Oilers goaltending will be their downfall though, it's crap!!
- Pacificgem

Bruins very lucky last night night that 2nd point should have gone to the OIL. Shouldn't even be on the same ice sheet as the Oilers with McD and Drai out there.

On the odd occasion, a team makes it with under 90 points, just for you, that is 12.5 percent, but mostly it is 1 team, in a conference, the rest of the teams are of the high quality variety.

Also, leave my legs out of it.

McDavid only player since Lemieux to record an assist in 13 consecutive periods.

Yup. They just need to toughen up mentally and physically. They are so "soft" sometimes.

I remember 2012, the Canucks just came off their second coveted President's Trophy, such fond memories, they should've had an easy path to the Cup as the Northwest Division and the Pacific Division only had one 100+ point team (Canucks). Phoenix won the Pacific Division with 97 points, San Jose got in too with 96, and then of course the Kings got in with 95 and won everything. Quick and a coaching change won them the Cup.

Anyway, point being, the field is not always strong year over year. I think Minnesota made the playoffs out of the Central Division in 2016 with 87 points as the Pacific Division was so weak.

The Bruins were the much better team the first half of the game, the Oilers made a good push to get back in it though, that's what elite talent does for you.

I once dated a girl who was a twin and people always asked me how I could tell them apart. It was simple, Alison painted her nails red, and Bob had a beard.

Also Soucy. He was a big part of their solid D systems earlier in the year.
- NewYorkNuck

Not trolling, but yeah the Soucy Myers pairing is missed. Cole is much better on the 3rd pairing.

The Oil played 1 period of Hockey. Both Goalies were leaky as all hell. I don't see where the Oilers played well enough to win and they were lucky to get the point. They were even gifted a soft penalty late and couldn't capitalize on the 4 on 3.

Drance brought that up the other day when talking about defending the rush... will be better when he's back:

Vancouver has been one of the best teams at defending the rush all season, but that area of its game appears to have taken on some water over the past few periods.

Now Vancouver has mostly been excellent defensively in the continued absence of Carson Soucy, but there can be no doubt that the best two-way hockey this team has played this season — in October and early November, and again in January — coincided with his presence in the lineup. And arguably, Soucy’s single best attribute is his ability to squeeze at the blue line and deny clean entries against. It’s a subtle area of the game, but one he’s exceptional at.

Yeah, plus they read off eachother well which is one of the more important aspects of D pairings. Hopefully when the Sauce is back he's healthy for a long while. All the pairings and deployments are definitely put out of whack without him.

Vantel brings up a decent point when he talks about leaving him out to massage the cap. Is it worth it in the long run to bury him for another depth move? Or do we need him for the stretch run? Either way, it's nice to have the points cushion to play that game.

I couldn't see them holding him out until the playoffs. Might be a stretch for a D man to come back and then jump into that intensity/timing. Worked better for Kuch as a forward and playoff vet.

A few different ways of handling it. If someone else gets injured then one out one in, as long as the money fits. Someone like Joshua doesn't cover the cost/cap. Don't be surprised if Cole and his 3 mil get injured soon.

Secondly if they bring in a depth Dman like Tanev (or any other Dman) then they replace Soucy's minutes.

It's more about getting Soucy playoff-ready than someone covering his minutes... they're already are doing that. Unless you're thinking trade Soucy for Tanev, though I would rather not.

I agree. Kuch is more of a cerebral player. He uses positioning as opposed to speed. There's far more quick reads involved in playing D. I just looked and Soucy has only played 21 games this year. So you'd think they would prefer to get him up to speed ASAP.

The other side of the coin is, if they give him the slow cook on LTIR, at least he's healthy and fresh going into the playoffs. Especially in a season where he's obviously been banged up. It's an interesting dichotomy to me. Something that probably wouldn't be an issue if and when we have D depth on the farm.

Kucherov sat a season and came back playoff ready. I believe the Knights did it with Eichel (in fact doing it again).

Send down Soucy to Abby for three games just before the playoffs for conditioning.

We will see how Canucks play this out but I do expect Podz gone in the next few days.

I think Bains is in the top six tonight.

I thought Soucy was only supposed to be out for another week or so, what's up with the talk of benching him till playoffs?
