Matinee game today. Usually not good for the isles. May need updated tankathon after the game JS.

Just watched a video talking about Canadian players skirting taxes at 38%, by front loading bonus’ which are taxed at 15%….i.e John Tavares. Apparently the Canadian IRS is no longer allowing that loophole. If that’s true Canadian teams will be crushed. No one will sign in Canada if they get taxed 38% across the board. Wow

Hahaha. I have to think the league has to create some sort of solution to keep parity.

Nylander just signed a career contract. If that loophole no longer exists, I bet he asks to be traded.

I'm not sure what the league can do. If players don't want to pay that tax they won't sign.

It’s just such a disparity between incomes. It would devastate the Canadian teams ability to sign players.

That’s exactly right. Don’t forget about the carbon tax. I saw a families electric bill on social media that was supposed to be $800 for electric but the actual amount was $2000 with the carbon tax. Insane.

canada's communist government is going to crush a large source of national and civic pride. i think it's hilarious because i cant stand any of their stupid teams and the smugness that accompanies the fanhood up there, but ultimately the game of hockey will suffer from this.

Isn't the highest U.S. tax bracket 37%? Most states have an income tax, too, and it's no longer deductible on the Federal return (beyond the first $10K), so a player in New York, e.g., which has a pretty significant tax rate on high earners, so the effective marginal rate is somewhere around what? 48%? 49%?

I'm not an accountant, so I could be missing something.

Bo has to score when they aren’t off sides.
Just bad timing once again.

Isles credited with 2 SOG through the first 12 minutes. Do they know this is pretty much a MUST game?
