I’m honestly so amazing how I’m always right. I know it bugs you guys having to watch me make my predictions and hot takes, and always end up being right.

I said two days ago that Willy needs some grittier players on his line, and you’ll see more of this from him.

I’ll overlook his bad mental lapses lastnight, because that’s the best game I’ve ever seen him play. I honestly think part of the 11.5M deal, it was made very clear to Willy that he’s changing his game. He can’t skate away as soon as scrums start. He has to battle along the boards. One game he did it, let’s hope he keeps it going.

Oh, like how a few weeks back was going to be the night the Leafs get shut out? No, the following game you meant. Still hasn't happened.

Jarnkrok return helps.
A RHD with snarl helps.
A 3C like Jenner helps...he PKs well I believe.

So if Tre can do what he should do, it might work itself out.

What are $11.5m numbers? Nylander is making 13.8% AAV based on this year's cap total - but it's really 13.1% based on next year's cap. That 20 points in 18 games is 46 goals / 92 points. His comparables in that 13.1% price range:

He is producing better than Crosby, Kopitar, Tavares, Eichel, Benn, Huberdeau, Seguin and Barkov - he is not producing as well as McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Panarin, Pastrnak and Kucherov.

Even at just 20 points in 18 games he fits in that range. Of course if you look at the whole year - which you sort of probably should - then he's producing as well as Panarin, who is making 14.3% of the cap.

Love it or lump it, he's in the range of where he should be - certainly on the high end of it, but it is the range of where a guy with his numbers would typically be in today's NHL.

Monkeypunk just coming in with facts, you love to see it.

Let's be honest, there is really no way to determine what an $11.5M player should be producing. The best way, as you pointed out, is to look at cap percentage. People can complain all they want, but he is CURRENTLY on a $7Mish contract and is producing WELL above that. His game is getting more physical, and he's playing with a player in JT that has been an absolute bum the last 25 games or so. And he's STILL putting up good numbers.

Marner is an elite passer and playmaker, but up until last night, they both had the same number of assists, that's wild to me. And Marner gets to play with possibly the best finisher this game has seen in a long time.

Is it okay that I'm happy we have both?!?

Leafs could win the cup with Nylander breaking the record for most points in a single playoffs and he would be like "He WiLl Be BaCk tO a 70 pOiNt pLaYeR nExT YeaR."

How about when Willy had a good game recently and he was just padding his stats against trash teams, but Marner has a good game last night and he may be the greatest player ever in the history of the universe?

What's most impressive to me is not that the Leafs have won 5 straight without Rielly, it's that they've won 5 straight with Bertuzzi in the lineup. It's basically like playing under a red card.

I think we should be happy that we have both. It's no secret that Mitch looks for Auston when he's out there - the fact that it's so prevalent and still works is a credit to both of them - similar to the best pairings of all time - like Hull & Oates or Gretzky & Kurri . . .

These are the recipients of goals where Nylander was the Primary Assist provider:

Auston Matthews: 11
John Tavares: 6
Mitch Marner: 2
Morgan Rielly: 2
Tyler Bertuzzi: 2
Jake McCabe: 1
Calle Järnkrok: 1

These are the recipients of goals where Marner was the Primary Assist provider:

Auston Matthews: 23
Matthew Knies: 3
William Nylander: 2
Jake McCabe: 2
John Tavares: 1
Bobby McMann: 1
