Jets owner saying their current attendance levels make the franchise unsustainable in the long run...again - Zezel
I remember Burke saying that in their first season back. He mused about how long the support would last. |

That's why they can never retire, hard to cover your tracks. Politicians are literally dying in office
Politics are corrupt AF in Canada, but it's on a whole other level in the US. - Whipper
for sure... definitely messy in Canada as well... Nepotism is the biggest problem in Canada... anyone who votes for anything related to a Mulroney or any of his spawn going forward is going to get the same level of garbage as they got with Trudeau junior.
they would be more financially corrupt in Canada if Mulroney hadn't sold the country down the drain back in the 80s.
need three rules in Canadian poliltics
1) no regional parties able to run in Federal elections - bye bye Parti Quebecois
2) no one able to run for office who's parents held provincial or federal office
3) term limits

I think getting rid of party discipline would go a long way in making leaders more accountable

that would certainly help as well....
but what would help most is individuals not voting for the most recent "shiny bobble" or the person who gave them a compliment on social media most recently.
as a Canadian who moved to the US a while back - but still cares about what I consider to be home - I was floored that Trudeau was re-elected and that Canadians in general seem to take their political leanings from what they hear about US politics - which believe has nothing common with Canadian politics. Not even the left right alignment is similar.

I personally don't see this as an issue with leaders as much as I see it as an issue with voters
How to get people to vote based on their interests instead of what people tell them their interests are. |

No issues with people running for office even if a parent held office.
But i do agree with limits.
Trudeau has kept Canada in top country in the world rankings for a very long time but 2 to 3 terms is enough. Need new representation
Pp isnt it. The cons need to get their act together and have intelligent representation |

How were you floored that he was reelected?
Did you see who he was going up against?
The pc party hasnt had a decent intelligent party rep for decades.
The pc party is simply copying what trump did.
I wish they could put someone forward who was worth voting for and not pandering to the moronic base. |

while on the surface I agree... as long as Buttman continues to underwrite the Arizona "continuous disaster" Coyotes... he has NO BUSINESS either visiting or commenting on the viability of Winnipeg.
I'd rather Toronto money go to keeping a franchise in Winnipeg than Arizona or Baton Rouge or Cincinatti or wherever ridiculous location Bettman dreams up.
they have a franchise in Vegas now... don't need Arizona anymore for regional TV coverage - which was ALWAYS the reason that Bettman stated earlier as for the continued bailout of Arizona - BorjeFan4Ever

I would have voted for the PCs when Erin O'Toole was leader, but the other crazies in the PC party stopped me from voting for them.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people fight over what type of boot is on their throat.
It doesn't matter if it's a "left" boot, or a "right" boot.
The gazillionaires set the agenda and the serfs die on those designated hills.
Keep fighting over race, religion, gay/trans, abortion, social justice. Meanwhile the vampires in control sit back, watch in glee, and laugh all the way to the bank.
Lather rinse repeat through another century.
People never learn.
Edit : just got back from the dispensary. In five more minutes, I won't give AF about any of it. |

The biggest issue imo is getting people to go out and vote. We need young people to get out there, or maybe it’s time for online voting. |

Yeah, getting people to become more informed and politically engaged is a tough nut to crack though. You can't force people to do it, you have to convince them that it's in their interest to do so. Celebrity leaders thrive on people who engage with politics around election time and I think people maybe feel disenfranchised when issues that are important to them don't make their way into the half dozen sound bytes or talking points that are thrown around during a campaign. It also doesn't help that campaign promises hold zero value... (see electoral reform)
I like the idea of online voting, even more so for promoting more direct democracy |

Bettman's comments are just a cynical ploy to drum up more ticket sales - he wouldn't have made them without the OK from the Jets. |

Nothing is on my throat, my kids, gf's or any other womens throat right now...outside of lack of funding for hospitals thanks to the Ontario government.
The boot matters. Only from certain people does it land on the throat, most of the time its just on the hand |

To be honest, I've always wondered if this is how pro sports is going to end up.
HD TV changed everything. You can now make the argument that it's better to watch a game at home.
As the technology gets more and more advanced, maybe (just maybe) we'll see a trend towards smaller stadia and arenas.
Keep in mind this is more of a beer-fueled idea than anything. |
