Again Benning is a genius.

I remember that offseason you are mentioning and Petey was doing records in LA with Buble, pushing his clothing design and was all over the place showing up at football games. Good for Petey trying to expand his product and enjoying life but there was questions then about his future with the Canucks. It was a 12 th hour signing.

This part is speculation on my part but I do question if there was ever a brawl in the locker room. Immediately after the rumor of screaming in the room he had a sore wrist and was gone for the rest of the season, if I remember correctly.

Another thing I picked up on the other night and this again is conspiracy theory I admit and am not pushing it at all, but I did see it, was when JTM scored the OT goal
when Petey went to hug him JTM opened his arms and skated right to Boeser sort of ignoring Petey. Petey was left in the background. Again I am not saying there is a problem but it did leave me curious if the other players are not warm to Petey.

If Canucks really want their best player they will find a way to make it fit. So that is nonsense.

To be clear, I still think he's going to be signed. It's just that there was opportunity there to get him long term for a lower AAV if Benning hadn't pissed away all their cap space.

I don't know about all the conspiracy theories, but based on social media posts and interviews, Petey is by all accounts good buddies with Boeser and Hughes, so I don't think he's unpopular in the room.

I read this excerpt from a story when Petey signed his last deal:

"Of course, if Pettersson plays in such a way that he earns a massive third contract, Canucks fans likely won’t be complaining "

Boy, they really don't understand Canuck fans.

Better to try CF than just tossing out numbers. Cap can increase 5% max. So 2024/25 can be 87.675m.

My rough draft has Lindholm having to sign for 6m or less to bring most of the band back.

Holy fuck, if you aren't telling someone how to be a fan, you are trying to get someone to get into your fantasy world of trades or telling someone to go to capfriendly to do a fucking stupid Acgm.
If you cant get the gist of what I was getting at, then I really dont know what to say.
I am pretty sure even Lefty could figure out what my point was.

I didn’t watch the celebration closely. Petey has a sort of air about him which I’m fine with. It probably helped make Hughes the easy choice as captain. Petey is elite but not like the top tier or yet imo. He’s thrown it out there he wants to be on a winner & now he’s on one & a big part of the success so far. He also has had 2 stretches of very so so play. If rumour is true it’s 8/12m he has to pick up his consistency. At that price tag it leaves no room to expect otherwise.

Why does he keep saying it can increase 5% max?

It went up $4.5M from 75M to 79.5M in 2018.

There are numerous times that it's clear EP has a problem withJT , watch the body language, and the interactions, and it's clear as day .
Now think of that , and factor in this management group bought right into JT and locked him up long term .

Smarter GMs like Dubas did the exact same thing with Nylander. Again, it is utter nonsense. Other GMs did the same with many of their stars.

Again if Canucks want Petey long term they will do it and players like Joshua and Big Z or Lindholm wont be the deterrent. Tkachuk Gudreau and so many other players signed bridge deals before signing their third and very expensive third contracts. This is not unique to Canucks.

I believe he is referring to the 5% max increase that the nhlpa can have implemented, during this current CBA.

I don't see that at all. I mean, last season JT was showing this to us with multiple players when he was putting on the worse display of leadership and body language and all that but it was on him and he put that behind him. Since then I havent seen anything like that. This is just more of you lying your face off is all.

If management is thinking anything like you claim, it would have been JT gone. They show patience with their top players it seems and it paid off this season. Nice narrative though...

I don't believe he is lying, as it showed up just last game, when Brock scored OT winner.

Edit, I am sure this is what Vantel was trying to say in his post on the previous page, although I believe he meant to say, when Brock scored, not JTM.

They can also agree to raise it higher. This would not be unrealistic after having stagnated for 3 full seasons.

It was actually the Caps game when JTM scored. The celebration looked awkward all around.

It was the Captain gone and JT signed long term , so maybe management sees something too

Yes but the NHLPA chose not to choose the 5% increase while escrow was still to be paid back.

I just rewatched it twice so three times in total. He raises his stick when the goal is scored, immediately skates over to the celebration group and gives everyone a bump more or less. He wasn't as exited as everyone else in the scrum but he wasn't directing that at Miller exclusively.

This is just silly. People projecting something like that to push a narrative.

Miller does that. Multiple times he does the "catch me if you can" when people come at him after a big goal. That is one of a few he did. A few games earlier he was pushing everyone's hands away and skating away from the pursuers. Over the years I've seen that kind of celebration with a few players. ITS NOTHING.

Petey was the first one to get to him and give him the pat with a big smile on his face.
