Sounds as if Lindholm is just a rental.

I don't think he's been worthy of a contract offer from the Canucks. Defensively he's been good, save one game, but offensively there's not been a lot there.

We'll see how it plays out. If I remember Horvat was bad down the stretch for the Isles and then rebounded to his more normal self this year. Guys who play for one team for a long time can sometimes take longer to adjust to teammates, systems, cities, etc.

Not disagreeing he hasn't done anything worthy, thought, not yet.

I voiced concerns that maybe management blew their asset load on a player that wasnt going to bring the offense needed for the top 6. Those worries disappeared when he scored 2 goals in his first game, but have returned now. They made improvements most definitely but this trade never filled the hole in the top 6... yet.

There's still time. Maybe he has a reset when the playoffs start. Management might pull off a good trade yet as well. Top 6 needs to be stabilized and balanced still.

Bains playing NHL games before Burrows did. Not really the same type of player, I think he was just meaning undrafted underdog

Exactly. Signed and developed by Canucks into NHL top 9 player.

On this day in 2018: The New York Rangers traded Ryan McDonagh and JT Miller to Tampa Bay for Vladislav Namestnikov, Brett Howden, Libor Hajek, a 2018 1st round pick (Nils Lundkvist) and a conditional 2019 2nd round pick. #NYR  #GoBolts  #NHL #NHLHockey

On June 22, 2019, on the second day of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Miller was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Marek Mazanec, a third-round pick in the 2019 Draft and a conditional first-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

JT Miller has been bought and sold twice for peanuts on the dollar. Never trade the best player in the deal, you almost always get screwed.

I just glanced on Twitter to see what is happening and have to say that not wanting to discuss Petey's contract has everyone on social media talking about Petey's contracts.

Reverse psychology.

If attempting to resign Lindholm I’d go only 4-5yrs max on a team friendly. He isn’t in his prime anymore but is still very versatile & useful. If he wants to test the market we cannot stop him & overpay. If the plan all along was he’s a rental then moving out Kuz was at the centre of it & the hope we make a good PO run to build on.

The sooner EP is signed the sooner PA can get on with the rest of the offseason roster building.

I like Lindholm but he is not worth 8 mil anymore.

The problem is teams are paying stupid money and now everyone wants a piece of the pie. He had 9 goals with the Flames and 4 with the Canucks not long term or 8 mil worthy.

It's an insanely small sample size. Revisit the question at the end of the year. PDG started the year as a top 6 and look at him now.

Everyone likes to say cap is going up 4 million per, yet everyone gives a 3-4 million increase per player. They must also forget, to replace Myers as the #3 defenseman, you are spending 6 million per, Ian Cole as the #4 defenseman at 4.5 million, Joshua at 3.5 mllion.(you get my point)
Either people start realizing that this is a 1 and done season, or they are miraculously going to have a cap of 100 million.

8m is outta the question & comes down to if he wants to go to the highest bidder or like to be here on a friendly. Even then EP & Hronek are cap priorities firstly. Haven’t done a CF ACGM on if it could work.

There was a twitter poll this morning asking who will you blame if the Canucks trade Pettersson: Petey or the team?

It's a terrible poll question, but one of the top replies correctly states that if they are unable to sign Pettersson, it is Jim Bennings fault. If it weren't for his rampant dumbassery and affinity for 4th liners, Petey could easily be in the 3rd year of an 8 year deal right now for somewhere around 9 mil.

The hanging on to 2011 & later had JB signing LE starting down a dark road. Add in UFA’s especially term dug his grave that only mushroomed into getting OEL the final straw we’ve yet to get past.

Does anyone know why EP signed so late & led to a slow start that year? I believe that is why he won’t go through that distraction again.

Better to try CF than just tossing out numbers. Cap can increase 5% max. So 2024/25 can be 87.675m.

My rough draft has Lindholm having to sign for 6m or less to bring most of the band back.

I read this excerpt from a story when Petey signed his last deal:

"Of course, if Pettersson plays in such a way that he earns a massive third contract, Canucks fans likely won’t be complaining "

Boy, they really don't understand Canuck fans.

Again Benning is a genius.

I remember that offseason you are mentioning and Petey was doing records in LA with Buble, pushing his clothing design and was all over the place showing up at football games. Good for Petey trying to expand his product and enjoying life but there was questions then about his future with the Canucks. It was a 12 th hour signing.

This part is speculation on my part but I do question if there was ever a brawl in the locker room. Immediately after the rumor of screaming in the room he had a sore wrist and was gone for the rest of the season, if I remember correctly.

Another thing I picked up on the other night and this again is conspiracy theory I admit, and am not pushing it at all, but I did see it, was when JTM scored the OT goal. When Petey went to hug him JTM opened his arms and skated right to Boeser sort of ignoring Petey. Petey was left in the background. Again I am not saying there is a problem but it did leave me curious if the other players are not warm to Petey.

If Canucks really want their best player they will find a way to make it fit. So that is nonsense.
