Guentzal was traded?

To answer your question, I do think its possible they are in the playoffs in the next 3 years. Probably best chance of the next 3 years would be next season. Dubas has admitted that his approach of a scoring top six and defensive bottom 6 has failed. So, he may correct some of that. He stated the desire to get younger. His defense pick ups of Ek and Graves will be in their 2nd seasons, not far fetched at all they are better next season when more acclimated to the Penguins.

IMO its a crazy thing to say that a RD eating up 25 mins a game (who is +9 and has strong underlying numbers doing so) that is on pace for over 60 points is expendable. Extremely hard piece to obtain or draft in this league.

I didn't say WAS traded, your reading to much into what I say. If you read what dubas is doing you would know that dubas doesn't have cap space to sign guentzel unless he moves out a player that is why I mentioned EK. You can get something in return for EK NOW before he becomes another malkin, who should have been traded about 5 years ago.

You mentioned RD? Who is RD? Is this right defenseman? Ryan shea plays both ld/rd he would be a good call up to replace EK. Or get a (my wish) tough dmen to play RD instead. That isn't happening though with sullivan.

Keep believing.. I don't see the penguins with another cup with this soft old team.

I also forgot to mention: EK makes 10 mil and has 8 goals. 8 GOALS. Ty smith has 9 goals and making 775,000. He's no 60 "monster" like EK but, I'd rather try and resign jake then keeping EK. Plus Jake is younger and scores more and sid seems to like having jake at his wing.

In other words they have a better chance with jake then EK.

Ok I'll admit Puustinen is starting to grow on me a bit.

DOC is still my guy though. Hopefully starting to break out offensively.

For giving up 3, Jarry was pretty incredible. Both goalies really, lots of good chances.

Really nice win and an entertaining game. Feel sorry for the fickle fans who stopped watching.

So does this mean we might be buyers at the deadline? lol

Side Note: I also think Rak should stay on the 1st line w/ Crosby.

Man, I dont even know where to start with all of that haha.

First off you literally said "It looks like dubas has seen enough already to throw the towel in by trading guentzel." That's why I made that tongue and cheek comment. Relax.

Yes, RD means right defensemen. Top pairing RD's who can eat up 25 mins a game and produce a lot are one of the rarest pieces in the NHL...right up there next to elite centers (a bit below IMO). Really not sure what to say about the idea of Shea replacing Ek....and we have to keep in mind that managements idea is to ice the best possible rosters for Sid, Geno and Tanger to stay competitive... Shea is a fringe 7th defenseman.

Keep believing? I said "its possible" they could make playoffs in next few years, best chance being next season, if the right moves are made. That's nowhere in the realm of thinking they definitely will be in playoffs haha let alone win cups. I was one of the ones around here in the summer, after they acquired Ek, that didnt think the playoffs were a lock this season....let alone the next three seasons

Are you comparing Ek's production in the NHL to Ty Smith's in the AHL? both are performing at high levels for the respective levels they are playing in...Ty Smith is an abomination at 5 on 5 though, even in the AHL. Ek is not.

I agree you could get things for Ek right now IF there was cap space around the league...but there isnt. Almost impossible for a team that would want Ek to be able to fit him with where the cap is and how little wiggle room most teams have now.

Just watched the 8+ mins highlight real from the game last night over in the Nucks blog. Jarry was great. Props to Sully for rolling with him again after a 0.713 SV% performance haha....was Ned sick or injured? Thought for sure he'd get the start last night.

Also, DOC was on their doorstep causing havoc a few times. Major screen for the goal that tied it 3-3. He's nowhere near the pvssy or sh!tty player Grinder makes him out to be hahaha.

Fvck, I wish I was super tired right now, had stayed up and watched haha.

Logan Stankoven has 24 goals and 57 points while his cap hit is under $850K, while Jason Robertson has 19 goals and 58 points with a cap hit of $7.75M. So the Stars would be better off playing Stankoven and trading Roberston.

I can sound dumb, too.

I think EK works hard, he is highly skilled, he’s more physical than DOC. His contract pretty much just isn’t worth it. That money needs to go to skilled wingers.

hahaha yeah, maybe. I am 6 foot, 197 lbs myself and in great shape....not professional NHLer shape, though. I guess if you and DOC squared off you'd have to finish it quick because his cardio could go the distance. Severely winded in a tilt doesnt really workout well hahaha

Anyone who thinks they could knock out a professional athlete (with the exception of some baseball players) doesn't understand how insanely strong and well-conditioned these guys are.

It's like Flyers fan who used to say they could beat up Crosby. That dude's core is so ridiculously strong he'd just crunch them to death.

hahaha man, I hear that. I have a huge driveway too and most winters we get a lot of snow. We had a two day snow storm the week before last that literally dumped two feet on us...but right at the end of the storm, for about a half hour, it rained. The heaviest of the heavy snow. I shoveled for 6 hours over two days....and I called the snow "the dank". By my estimate each scoop was around 25/30 pounds...and I must have done around 200 scoops in that time frame...at least, probably more. That's a lot of weight tossed.

Not true at all. A guy who does a weekly boxing routine as a hobby could absolutely knock out a pro anything that doesn’t do a weekly boxing routine. DOC is also a special case of wuss though. I was just saying he couldn’t shovel my driveway. Matt brought the fisticuffs into it.

Probably. I'm more talking about the average "Looks at that girly player, what a wussy, I could beat his ass," kinda fans. I call them "Eagles fans." You know, the out-of-shape, middle-aged, beer guzzling lowlifes.

Because you keep calling him a pvssy hahaha....pvssies dont make it to the NHL at all. Period. Now, in relation to some of his peers he might not be as tough but he's definitely not a pvssy haha

If Mike Sullivan your head coach you can score 8 career goals be a giant pvssy and be a 2nd line staple. Don’t give me that poop.

You just further proved my point. Thanks

Pickering has 5 goals and 31 assists with 29 pims..

I'd rather upgrade the bottom 6 with 10 million then keep EK..If you don't want Jake? It's funny though when I read and here (when Noel acciari comes back from injury the pens will be back to winning again)...Relying on noel and the bottom 6 with scoring goals????? Whatever man...

I can sound dumb also.

In all fairness most nhl players are rich wieners. He’s prob never shovelled a driveway in his life. Green with envy he can’t afford a heated one yet like Mcdavo.

I do like where docs game is starting to head though, and puustinen although I would xekaj on 3LD, someone similar on 3RD, when we trade for xekaj you also trade for the rights to his little brother. And the next rempe or 2. I would like the blue jackets to be our farm team really.

Fun game to watch last night. I almost turned it off after the 1st period. The Canucks were all over the ice reeking havoc. By the time I went to bed, it was 2-1. Then the 5-on-3 PP goal - and just like that a tie game, YAY! Then the shorty breakaway by Letang ... such a let down.

By the 3rd period, I was committed to stay and see if they can at least sneak away with a point. Lots of fight from the bottom guys - was great to see. Eller equalizer was a beauty.

I wrote last night that their PP woes come a lot from sheer arrogance of the 3 people in particular - Geno, Letang, and Karlsson. Others too from time to time. I am not sure how else to explain such nonchalant carelessness. Madden used the word "conceited". I think there is definitely some of that. They think they are going to be let skating around and passing freely and the seas will part. The waltz that Geno did not once, but twice into the zone was just idiotic. "It didn't work the first time, so let me try it again". It's truly their Achilles' heel.

Such a rollercoaster of a game but satisfying result in the end. On to Kraken!
