With you being a trans person of color, that would be a clear conflict of interest. |

The Leafs have 210 goals this season, meaning that Matthews has contributed to 36.67 percent of his team’s goals. His team sports a goal differential of minus 27 when he is not on the ice.
From an article I read today about Hart candidates.

Good thing he gets on the ice.
Mitch should get some Hart consideration. He’s carrying Matthews this year. That stat is equally telling of Mitch’s incredible value. |

SO Pens made that trade for some guy. Conditional 6th round pick becomes a third round pick in 2026 IF he scores like 6 goals the rest of this season.
Pens fans in the blog are arguing about not wanting to pay the 3rd rounder TWO YEARS from now. Worried it's a guentzel or something.
I laugh at it because it would be the same conversation had by some people in this blog should the leafs have made a similar trade |

They wouldn't be having a good time as Tampa fans watching Briesbois torch draft picks like they grow on trees.

It is. It is one that I hope pays off and I have a good feeling that it might finally do that.
Call me nuts, but I am weirdly optimistic this season. I might be setting myself up for crushing disappointment, but isn't that the hallmark of a true Leaf fan? Or, does that good feeling need to be completely annihilated first before I can get my Blue card? - GalacticStone
I think it's finally time for you to change the team in your bio.
Jump in, the water is nice.

that feels like Steve Simmons....stats
but feels a bit misleading. does he play much PK or with empty net...where a lot of goals againt will come from
looking at 5v5, he has 27 goals.
the team is 130-114 at 5v5 |

I think most would question it if they had minimum stock in the cupboards.
So fans of other teams dont like wasting picks either on "some guy"?
Weird. |

Leafs have allowed 30 Shorties...only with him on the ice. |

Why don't they just give him more ice time? I feel like coach Zezel will figure this out. |

I think it's weird you'd be concerned about a 3rd round pick in TWO YEARS of a guy that wouldn't skate for the team for ANOTHER THREE years instead of getting production this year from a young player. Fans seem to think every pick is going to turn into a superstar

To be fair, two years isn't that far in the future. Picks are assets that have intrinsic value - why wouldn't you want your team to maximize said value?
I mean, sure, there are fans who think every pick is sacred which is absurd, but I don't think it's odd or necessarily silly to rationally criticize a trade that involves future picks. 🤷 |

I wouldn't.
But its understandable that some fans wouldnt want to waste a 3rd on some guy.
And that's ok. |

“Some players taken in the past with the 3rd draft pick are: Denis Savard, Pat LaFontaine, Scott Niedermayer, Olli Jokinen, Marion Gaborik and Jonathan Toews.”

especially when the current team isn't making the playoffs. I can see why some would be upset spending future assets to improve a team that is clearly nowhere near good enough with a core of players nearing the end of their careers.
