Roenick is saying the players are starting to turn against Sullivan and are starting to lose faith in what he is saying.

Side note Lyubushkin to Toronto. The smaller trades are starting. A few rumor sites are saying there is a lot of talk going on about Reilly Smith from teams calling the Pens.

I’ve mentioned this multiple times this year with things I’ve heard going on. 1 public comment was from Karlsson saying "I have my theories, but I'll keep it to myself." about the 3 on 3 problems… that’s clearly a public shot at how they are being told to play the 3 on 3s. The other was players arguing after the coyotes game after the “own goal”. About the PP players not changing, no effort and when the PP changes it’s very short term. A player was pissed Sullivan missed getting Harkins out of the penalty box on the own goal as that was a PP goal for the yotes and should have been a pens pp after that. Instead it was 4 on 4.
I’ve heard Smith has found it frustrating playing with Malkin when it wasn’t working and Sullivan kept forcing it instead of trying him with Sid.
Another new topic I just heard about was multiple players wanting Ludvig in the lineup. I’d think that possibly means Ludvig in over Graves but that won’t happen either.

I thought when Ek said that it was regarding their PP woes.

Ludwig at least tries to drop bodies. I’d put him in over poj or graves any day.

I've long said that I think Anaheim would be an under the radar destination for Karlsson if they decided to move on.

I hope they are looking at Vatrano, good cap hit for a scrappy top 9 winger who has some finishing ability around the net. I love Henrique but we arent going to rent him at the cost it would take. I wonder about where Strome fits in for Anaheim. They have McTavish and Carlsson who are developing into real deal 1-2 centers and I could see them bringing Henrique back even if they trade him. Gibson seems super unlikely unless they pull out a Jarry trade.

Yohe said the other day that the Pens NEVER practice 3v3. Maybe that's why Karlsson said that. That's coaching malpractice on Sullivan's part.

Have you heard about any potential deals? If we are interested in anyone? If you heard they are working on any deals for anyone (since I know you have some connections)

I've always liked Vatrano. When Dubas gave that presser the other day, he lumped EK into the core. Pretty much said he'll listen on anything else.

If they're scouting those teams, maybe there's some 3way deal in the works.

Its going to be the TDL of juicy three ways. Already one down with Leafs, Canes and Ducks.

Dubas supposedly uses analytics. Let me know when this happens with the bottom 6 and smith, graves and co that was traded for and brought in...Also dubas grow a set and fire sullivan already..Geez. I read, The country club is turning on sullivan.

I might be wrong but I thought a reporter grouped him with the core and Dubas just went along with it. I would 100% expect him to say he is part of the core because at this point that is his trademark trade and if he cant move him and get value, he isnt going anywhere... better to let everyone think he is part of the core even if you might want to trade him.

I was definitely thinking of a 3 way deal. Or maybe using the picks from dealing Jake and others to add other players to the roster to do a hybrid retool/rebuild.

Smith, Graves, Eller, Acciari.....pretty much all had good to great analytics the past several season, some of them all of their careers. Nieto's were pretty decent last season.

Acciari's one partial season with the Blues is the worst of all seasons for all players I have mentioned. They were good when he went to TO (part of the ROR trade) to finish the season.

Unfortunately I dont get to much inside info anymore on the pens now that Im working for a team but I posted it in here about 4-5 weeks ago. Rangers checked in on Jake and pens apparently asked for Lafreniere, Cuylle and a 1st or Perreault... Lately some rumors have came out saying the asking price was/is ridiculous so I think that might be where that came from. Highly doubt they get a deal with that much included for Jake.
He was definitely talked about with Van before Lindholm got dealt and I "heard" pens were asking for Kuz, Hoglander, 1st, top 2 prospect.
Id still be watching for Knights and oilers front runners with Kings, Dallas and Van still in there for Jake but I think thats probably well reported on.

Other topic no clue if the pens are in on him but as Elliotte reported Elias Pettersson is definitely available for the right price. I can say for a fact it wasnt just the canes talking trade with Van either.... Would be kinda weird to sign him now after its been openly reported you were talking about trading him but weirder things happen behind closed doors hahaha

Thanks for the info! I really hope we get a bunch for Jake. I think if he gets what he is asking for him (which I assume they get talked down in price frequently), but if Pens did deal him to Rangers, or Van for that type of price...wow would we be 2 steps forward on a rebuild/retool.

Edit: Doesn't change my opinion of Roenick. Although Roenick saying it to the hockey nation is going to raise some eyebrows.

It’s one thing to consult analytics. It’s another in how you interpret or use the data.

Jeff Carter is absolutely useless on the PK. He NEVER wins a battle. Guy is late on every play.
- madmike71

I just watched this goal and Carter is the only guy that plays his position for that whole sequence. Doesn’t give the point a shot, takes away the cross ice pass, battles along the boards and doesn’t allow a pass then Petterson gets beat, and Letang and Petts are staring at Jarry while Carter tries to take the man out in front. This is the funny part to me.

If the Pens are able to sell off and retool for next season Hextall waiting Malkin out and only slightly overpaying him is going to count for a lot.

Graves takes 2 penalties and somehow moves up and POJ down… sully gunna sully
- buckster2342

Yeah... If he had anything left in his legs, he'd have gotten that puck out along the boards. He's washed. It's Sully's fault really. He knows what he's seeing.
- madmike71

And this is the problem with saying they want to get younger. Hard to do that when the coach always wants to play the vet.

I think Ludvig has some potential, but the Pens have been outscored 15-5 at 5v5 when he's on the ice. The only other regular close to that is Harkins.

Injuries robbed him of too much development time. (Hoping the same isn't happening to Poulin). Ludvig needs a lot of work despite bringing a welcome physical edge. 7th D feels about right, I honestly wouldn't play him over Graves.
