As a Leafs fan, I'm hoping he outperforms Marner for the next 1.5 years.

He's gonna easily get more points than Marner this year, and I don't see any way that Marner can close the gap from here on out for the rest of their careers really.

He's 22 and waiver exempt. I wouldn't be trading him unless he's valued for the 2nd round pick used to select him. If you get that equitable value and see no future for him here, then use him in a deal. Otherwise it makes more sense to keep him and try him next year. He's not going to make more than $850k on his next 1-2 year deal.

His size shouldn't be an issue and really hasn't been this year - his effort just has to be consistent. Ironically Robertson gives a more consistent effort than most of the other guys in his same bottom-6 realm - Holmberg, Gregor, McMann, Reaves . . . and out produces all of them, but because he's shorter he doesn't get the coach's approval.

Yeah I’ve been pulling for him, for years! Always injured it seems. But this year he’s had a fair shake, looks amazing at times, and has a great shot…..just can’t seem play consistently well. I’ve heard it said by others and agree, LA is the perfect opportunity for him to do well. Would be nice if Leaf’s and LA could work something out.

I think he’ll be a guy that you don’t notice a whole lot but can score a big goal in a playoff series. Kind of like a kapanen when he was a leaf. Just can’t give him 3.5 million for it.
