Unless Demko is standing on his head, the Canucks live and die on the play of Hughes and Hronek

Another 80 degree day of sunshine in the valley...it's a great day to be alive and well in Arizona. Reading on X that Jim Rutherford isn't messing around, some changes need to be made and if Elias Pettersson doesn't come to the table he's going to be one of them.

Actually, the third line was carrying the boys for a good stretch but they've cooled off and the big guys, other than JT Miller, have cooled off. It's the dog-days of a long season. All the best teams have gone through it, doesn't mean it's ok, just means it's to be expected at some point.

Miller has been the one consistently good performing forward, need more JT Miller's out there.

There’s actually several components that simultaneously make this work. But nuance, details and fact have no place here, so be gone villain!

Apparently fans aren’t rational

Need Joshua to get back too. Apparently he was the emotional engine of the team

Really missing Joshua, that 3rd line scored a lot of rush goals.

Not the first time the Canucks have played like this over a stretch.

Elliotte said Rutherford brought the trade to Pettersson and his camp:

"He brought it to the table and said if you aren't going to give us an answer, this is something we're going to consider."

There is reportedly an offer on the table for Pettersson's contract in the range of $90M to $96M, according to Nick Kypreos.

They're basically giving him two options, sign or trade.

When? Like 5 games? The best the 3rd line could do over a 20 game stretch was half the scoring rate of the top 3 players.

Rumour of that Carolina deal according to Sat was
Necas
Kotkaniemi
1st round pick
Bradley Nadeau and possible another prospect.

That is a deal I would give a ton of consideration too.

Management flexing their muscle, I like it. Get clarity now and be proactive.

Are those better or worse than floods and fires?

Thanks Yorkie, I actually only watched to when Doughty scored then just pressed fast forward on the recording. Disappointing slump for sure.

Oh well there is always next game.

You and PA both.
Seems like it has good frame.
I’m not sure about KK myself.
But haven’t paid attention to Carolina all year.

He's good, yet he really sucks. Still only 23 years old though. Sometimes it feels like he is going to have a Jared McCann type blow up but then he disappears for another 10 games.

What would a lineup look like?

Necas-Jtm-Boeser
Joshua-kotkianemi-Garland
Mikheyev -Lindholm-Suter
Hoglander-Blueger-Lafferty

Drew Doughty and Cam Talbot both called that performance against the Canucks their best 60 minutes of season, and mentioned the defensive effort frustrated Vancouver’s top players …

The score ended up to be pretty ugly but if that's the best game LA has played all season and that might have been the worst Canucks have played all season.

It was a 2-1 game with 17 minutes left until an error by Cole. Garland and Hoglander should have scored those two.

I kinda hope he's traded now just to see the fall-out, it would be glorious. I think I'm attracted to hockey chaos?

Lindholm has been a disappointment, at least offensively, send him back to Carolina as well.

It would be so much fun, the guy is constantly hated on, but if traded, the fans would turn on the organization...extremely bi-polar fanbase.

I'd probably give Necas to Lindholm, keep the 3rd line together and Kotkaniemi centering the 4th line.

So not a single piece that even comes close to EP in terms of potential. Waste of time. At least it's pushing the resigning to happen sooner.

Cam Talbot on beating the Canucks last night.

"That's what we're best at, when we're frustrating teams like that, especially their top talent, made it tough for them to come through the neutral zone. They had to give up the puck a lot and that's not something they'd like to do. They carry the puck and create off the rush and we didn't really allow them to do that tonight, so you could definitely sense the frustration whenever they had to give up the puck and go get it. Just goes to show when we stick to our system and we play it properly, how tough we can be to beat"

Oddly enough some still think that dump and chase is the way to win hockey games, when NHL teams would rather force a team to do that.
