Only has one year left, but yes. Not sure the Kraken probably want to deal him unless it's an overpayment. They don't really have any great defense prospects coming up. |

Oops! You are correct. I was going over RD yesterday to see what was possible. I looked at a couple dozen, and I obviously confused the length of the contract. It is a 4 year contract with 2.56 years already burned. |

Niemela next year for sure, gotta keep him
Mittens can go
I bet Dubas would love him - mr.sir
I'm not that big on Minten - he just doesn't seem to have enough offensive upside or size to be a top-6 player or top-6 role player. He probably works his way in as a 3rd line player. If he and a pick can be leveraged into someone useful with term, then I'd be for it. Niemela is doing well enough - but I'm not sure what to make of him. I think he has the makings of another Liljegren - not quite big enough or strong enough to be an effective difference maker where we _need_ someone to be. But he can probably be a good puck mover and use his positioning and skating to get in lanes, separate pucks and both retrieve and distribute the puck effectively.

At this point think there is some intresting mid tier names and with the cost set as it is, not unreasonable to go out and net some help. Have to think this is really it for Gio and Brodie so getting some term and younger on the back end will help next few seasons. Good news is discovering Benoit and even Laggeson back there which certainly changes things some.
I really don't want to see Cowan, Minten, or the few top prospects who might crack and get a look in the next few years gone. We need that cheap young talent coming in as older move out.
Going to be interesting to see just what Tre can do to bolster things here.
Thank god Woll is back too! If we could manage to fire off Sammy and just run Woll/Jones I would be happy. Forget three headed goalie monster. |

Same. If we can get someone that we hope Topi can turn into in a few years, I say go for it. |

We really need someone who can play on the top pairing with Reilly. And like most agree, someone younger and with term. And bonus if he can play on PP2.
I'm not sure who that is, but I would guess it'll be costly.
A 1st, Robertson, plus, plus maybe? Especially with salary retention. Or somehow sending back salary.
I guess the question is whether the Leafs go all in this year?
Do you push all the chips in while Matthews is playing out of his mind?
Can you trust your goalies to carry you through the playoffs?
Is this the group you make that big push for? Or is it next year when cap space opens up and you can remake your roster over the summer?
Man, lots of big decisions coming up.
One week to go to find out. |

Jenner $3.75m for 2 more years after this one.
Matt Roy $3.15, UFA after this year but with Brodie done, re-sign easy.
$6.9M
Lily, Robertson, Timmins $3.3M + $4M ish (Cap available per Lawsie) = $7.3M
$7.3M - $6.9M = $400k under the Cap.
Works! |

Do you push all the chips in while Matthews is playing out of his mind? Yes.
Can you trust your goalies to carry you through the playoffs? Have to and better chance if you fix up the D.
Is this the group you make that big push for? Yes. Or is it next year when cap space opens up and you can remake your roster over the summer? For Cup win #2.

This line up will win. More grind type players, less just fancy talented guys and D is solid.
