The fishbowl effect doesn't work in Toronto's favor. Not sure how the reality matches up against the perception, but if it's true, then I understand where some higher-profile players might think twice about that market. Even with all things being equal (taxes), a guy like Stamkos can walk around the beach in Tampa and not get mobbed. On an average day, he might not be recognized. If he screws up, he doesn't have eleventy-million frothing fans hurling abuse at him (and his wife) on Twatter.
I could see a player tell his agent : if the Leafs come knocking, raise the price. Ditto for Montreal.
Actual mileage may vary. - GalacticStone
This isn’t exactly true, though.
Canadians are polite and reserved to a fault. Most players will tell you that everyone in the restaurant knows who they are, but they are mostly left alone. |

This year's 10 worst contracts from the hockey writers and last year's by the athletic. Hard to argue. No Leaf contracts present. Lots of Habs contracts though

Yep, Bergevin really left a mess when he was fired. (frank)ing cartoon.
Hughes has been slowly cleaning this poop up but it takes a while. |

Either way the signing is good news. Players are willing to sign long term contracts and stay in Canada. They could easily pull a Tkachuk and demand a trade to the USA. |

Well of course you would and rightfully so, its a leafs board. Im sure that 4.71m will get brought up by the canucks fans and media if it interferes with acquiring players. Unless they have success then why would anyone care.
As for your question, im gonna go wtih a combo of B and C for a couple of reasons: 1) i dont know who terry and deaner are 2) i don't believe it will be a full on riot but definitely civil unrest and 3) everything canucks fans do is fueled their hatred/jealousy of the leafs and Toronto in general. - Fakepartofme
You don’t know what you’re missing, Canadian cult(ish) classic movie (with a sequel). Has a Trailer Park Boys vibe to it…..

Very tradable contract in those last 3 years (assuming Vancouver pays the bonus or another rich team doesn’t mind doing so (like MLSE). |

If those windows are outside of Jenner and Roy's bathrooms, ummm, ya
Just fyi, I did concede that I do know we're aren't getting Jenner, don't even really care about him. I do, however, like what I hear and the little I've seen of Roy tho.
Off the radar guy that would be great here. And it's not like we haven't been trading partners with the Kings before
So I will lick away on that one. |
