Remember when Bryan McCabe used to do the can opener and it would never get called and then people started talking about it and then the refs and league clued in and it always got called?
A couple of years ago I noticed that in a few cases when the D would go down to block shots, the body was a moving block, the refs would call the trip from their body. I mostly noticed this because it was a dumb penalty in NHL22 that started to surface in real hockey.
Watch the Rangers - when they go down, they use their legs to trip the opposition by wrapping up the ankles. This isn't the first time I've seen them do it this year. When is that going to be called? - Monkeypunk
I noticed that too. Was swearing at the TV. It did not help
Yes makes up for that (frank)ing stupid icing. Funny how both of his goals came from flubs, but his silky smooth hands allowed him to recover and score.
Win is what matters but man the officials this season.
I don’t mind shooting for the empty net - maybe don’t do it on the backhand though eh.
Either way the play should never have happened:
The entry into the Leafs end (roughly 1:58) and get possession to pull the goalie leading up to the empty net icing - the play was actually a missed icing on the NYR. The pass went from in front Rangers bench, hit Ranger players skate about 2feet from redline and went all the way down. Liney waved it off. Missed call almost cost 2pts.

From the NHL rulebook:
74.4 Deliberate Illegal Substitution - If by reason of insufficient playing time remaining, or by reason of penalties already imposed, a bench minor penalty is imposed for deliberate illegal substitution (too many men on the ice) which cannot be served in its entirety within the legal playing time, or at any time in overtime, a penalty shot shall be awarded against the offending team.
This is a pretty brutal and obvious miss. Almost as bad as the charge that happened right in front of the ref.

That was a brutal miss as well - agree 100%. Guy left his feet to hit a guy who was crouching to begin with. It was a charge, a board, and head was also a primary point as a result of Boosh crouching low. But a good hit for a ref in today’s game to stand and watch.
At least Trouba didn’t chop a guys head tonight - would’ve hated to see Mo get suspended again.

That answers my question
My 1st thought was if there’s ever a breakaway in the final 20 seconds of OT just always have a guy ready to jump on the ice to stop it.
Brutal refs tonight, can’t even say it’s being biased either. Some bush league stuff.
