This is a pretty brutal and obvious miss. Almost as bad as the charge that happened right in front of the ref.

Hanifin would be a great add. I like him more than Tanev (off the board now), Savard, or some of the other names that keep popping up.

I don't see how they would re-sign him after the season is over. Tampa's cap situation is going to be trash when Sergachev comes off LTIR. It's going to take some cap gymnastics to make Hanifin more than a rental.

Stammer needs a new deal. I don't think he's making 8.5 again so if he wants to stay it's probably like 4 or 5 million. Cirelli is movable for sure and/or likely Cernak. I think long term is doable for the team.

There is a lot of talk about concussions and CTE but this is another example of a lack of action. Unfortunately there are going to be more problems with this type of thing before things actually change. I'm a big believer that fighting is a part of hockey and should continue to have a place in the game but the team and league must do a better job of protecting a 21 year old kid from himself in situations like this.

Reaves did not go anywhere near him until his dirty hit knocked Boosh out of the game. If the kid shouldn't be fighting he should not be stretching at the red line during warmup. Anyone who knows anything about the fighters code in the NHL knows that is the beginning of an invitation.

I defended the stupid staged fighting argument before the game. Said Reaves should leave the kid alone and just play hockey UNLESS he did something stupid. He did and he put the target on his own back.
