He was deliberately injured in a play designed to deliberately injure a player that has a specific rule prohibiting it. The NHL will, as usual, do nothing to a Ranger player. That was a brutal hit.

Should have been 5 and a game for that hit. But goon Parros will fine him.

Garbage officiating last night. You could see Keefe do everything he could to not scream at the refs. Shanahan should be on a call with Gary today going over this horsepoop.

Good game lots of chances for both teams! A couple of lucky leafs bounces and a couple of posts were the difference. Leafs outshot 5-0 in ot Mr Samsonov had a good game. Maybe we will see you in the playoffs maybe not.

From the NHL rulebook:

74.4 Deliberate Illegal Substitution - If by reason of insufficient playing time remaining, or by reason of penalties already imposed, a bench minor penalty is imposed for deliberate illegal substitution (too many men on the ice) which cannot be served in its entirety within the legal playing time, or at any time in overtime, a penalty shot shall be awarded against the offending team.

This is a pretty brutal and obvious miss. Almost as bad as the charge that happened right in front of the ref.

- Monkeypunk

Thanks, for this. I was pretty sure an auto-PS was supposed to be awarded too - it was so obviously an absurd change.

So it appears hanifin wants to go to the lightning, so avoid trading for him.
Besides, he has no term anyway

Briesbois is going to have his work cut out. No assets to speak of. The cupboards are pretty bare.

Hanifin would be a great add. I like him more than Tanev (off the board now), Savard, or some of the other names that keep popping up.

I don't see how they would re-sign him after the season is over. Tampa's cap situation is going to be trash when Sergachev comes off LTIR. It's going to take some cap gymnastics to make Hanifin more than a rental.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. Brisebois always finds a way.

Stammer needs a new deal. I don't think he's making 8.5 again so if he wants to stay it's probably like 4 or 5 million. Cirelli is movable for sure and/or likely Cernak. I think long term is doable for the team.

Fortunately, he can only submit an 8-team no trade list. But yeah, makes things more difficult.

You mean luck like the “luck” the Rangers had in not having to kill of a major penalty for charging or a head shot nor have to face a penalty shot with 7 seconds left in OT on an obvious call? Lol

2 pretty evenly matched teams but AM had no real impact on the game last night and that doesn’t happen often.

Anyone who has ever fought or has a clue about fighting recognizes that Rempe should not have been fighting yet. The black eyes and spaghetti legs after the Olivier fight are a clear indication that his gloves should stay on for another week or so. Make no mistake about it, Reaves was well aware of that and kept chasing the kid down. Interesting that he doesn't do that to someome like a healthy Xhekaj.

If this was true, it would be on the Rangers for putting him in the lineup.

Luckily it’s not true.

It absolutely is true and I definitely blame the Rangers as well. This is the kind of thing that gets the league in trouble. There is a lot of talk about concussions and CTE but this is another example of a lack of action. Unfortunately there are going to be more problems with this type of thing before things actually change. I'm a big believer that fighting is a part of hockey and should continue to have a place in the game but the team and league must do a better job of protecting a 21 year old kid from himself in situations like this.

Reaves did not go anywhere near him until his dirty hit knocked Boosh out of the game. If the kid shouldn't be fighting he should not be stretching at the red line during warmup. Anyone who knows anything about the fighters code in the NHL knows that is the beginning of an invitation.

That kid asked for it after his charge on Lybushkin.

Guess he shouldn't charge, elbow to the head, and leave his feet to hit a guy in the numbers against the boards then.

If he doesn't want to get smacked in his already broken face, then play cleaner hockey.

I defended the stupid staged fighting argument before the game. Said Reaves should leave the kid alone and just play hockey UNLESS he did something stupid. He did and he put the target on his own back.

(frank) him. Only regret is Reaves didn't completely (frank) him up.

Oh PS, Reaves fought Super Xhekaj, he wussed out and pushed him into the net.
