We are either going to get smoked 5-1 or win 5-1. No in between tonight.

I'm going with option 1 lol. Old team on a tough road trip out west. Not to mention the Oil has destroyed the Pens lately.

Working at the game here tonight in Edmonton and was just reading my team notes… Malkin has 1 goal in the last 19 games and 1 PPG since November 4th… that’s actually some sort of impressive

Reilly Samith is playing RW while Puustinen is playing LW. No wonder these guys have quit on Sullivan.

But he won 2 cups 7 years ago and he’s also from Boston so he has immunity

My theory is they are trying to trade him and avoid buying out his contract. That's why Dubas wouldn't say anything other than positive stuff about Sully and took all of the blame for roster construction (like the last 5 years didn't count).

It's either that or they know the team is about to implode on itself and guys will be more open to waiving NTCs when that happens. Those are the only things that would make sense to me.

Trade Malkin to Washington for Kuznetsov and picks/prospect
Trade Jake to Vancouver or Edmonton for NHL Ready Prospect and Picks
Trade Smith to wherever as a cap dump
Trade Graves anywhere for some other teams toxic contract
Trade Jarry to NJ or Carolina for Prospects

Retool this summer and give next year one more go and if it doesn't work, Trade Sid, Trade Letang, Trade Karlsson and burn the whole thing down

Dark times for the Pens. It’s a little comforting to see that the Caps and the Devils are also struggling. The Isles will probably not make it in either.

Not much parity this year in the Metro.

Sid has to break character and go off on the entire organization. Can’t be a “quiet” leader if he truly wants 1 more real chance at a cup.

The Deserve to Win-O-Meter has the Pens at 17.8%.

This locker room cannot withstand one more game without a major move. I don’t even care about this season anymore, obviously we’re cooked, but for long term locker room cohesion going into next season, something needs to be done tomorrow.

Problem is that it’s been reported that Sid has Sullivan’s back 100%. Not sure Sid is really a great macro level strategist who’s good at identifying organizational problems.

One modification: Malkin to Florida for Knight, Samoskevich & a 2nd. I would then flip the second to Minnesota for Fleury and extend him a year to mentor Knight and Bloomqvist.

One addition: IMO a Karlsson trade gives you the best chance to retool. If Norris is available as rumored, I'm shooting my shot for him. More likely a Chabot trade though.

The only two untouchables for me are Crosby and Letang. Unless they ask to be traded they stay.

Trade deadline is Friday. I'd let things play out. Like we said last night... Make the obvious trades before the deadline. Do the major stuff after the season.

This game was an easy game to predict. I'm not going to over react to it. I would have fired Sully two years ago. If Dubas does that tomorrow....great!

It's because Sullivan has been a Crosby sycophant since he took over. Sid deserves all of the praise, but Sully has always been way over the top publicly. Sid is too nice, hard to call for the head of a guy who has non stop praised you for years.

For many years, people said "1st round picks dont matter. Prospects dont matter. Developing the farm system doesnt matter."

And while I didnt agree with it to that extreme, I agreed that sacrificing the future for now, with 2 generational talents, was the right move, even if the bill was going to come due at some point.

We are now living with that reality. Im not complaining one bit. 3 Cups during my youth and young adult years was awesome. Going to playoff games, sitting outside and watching on the big screen, lots of good memories. Wouldnt trade it for anything.

The team needs to be smart and as I've said, I doubt we rebuild with our core and I doubt this core leaves. So the reality is you try to clear as much salary as possible. Maybe you get lucky like the Rangers in 2020 and move up in the draft and pick a key piece that can step right into the NHL. From there you reinvest the open cap $ into the team and try again.

The issue is either this summer or next summer you lose a 1st round pick. Right now we are in 9th in the league, with several games in hand that could take us up to 16th. The lowest we could probably go is 6th/7th before the lottery.

After 2 first round exits when you were the favorite? Yup.
3 first rounds exits? Yup.
4 first round exists? Yup.
Miss the playoffs for the first time in 16 years? Yup.
After about 10+ no shows/collapses this season? Yup.

How this guy has survived all that is mind blowing.

I doubt Crosby wants to play for another coach. And I doubt Dubas wants to look like an idiot by firing Sullivan after saying last summer he came to Pittsburgh to work with Mike Sullivan. And I doubt FSG wants to fire their Boston man.
