Oilers 5 - Pens 0 after 2 periods.

Tough night for the Pens, they blew a 3-1 lead last night with 10 minutes to play against Calgary. They look like a team ready for the season to end ASAP.

I wouldn't want Dubas' job having to deal with that old lineup.

in a way though he's still in a familiar situation, as he's jumped from one untouchable core-four to another.

I know it was likely forced upon him by ownership, but the Karlsson trade was such a huge mistake... and that should have been the first sign to not take the job, especially with that core on the downside.

The thing is, he's trying to maximise the remaining years of his star players but he doesn't have much resources (ie. picks, prospects) anymore to make a trade that would help them for a playoff push.

They had a great run over the years but now they're slowly starting to circle the drain.

an obvious solution to this would be to trade the declining star players while they still have a certain value. then again I understand why fans would rather see a guy like Crosby finish his career in PIT, but that dilemma isn't such a big deal imho because they've already won their cups.

Indeed, it's an impossible situation for Dubas.

Can you see an unemployed GM not taking another GM job, for any reason?

I can’t..

nope, same thing for coaches. I don't think Tourigny is coaching in Arizona because he thought it would be the most ideal situation for him lol... it's an NHL job.

that's how Pete is "blending in" in 'Berta/Saskat, his Jamaican mother and his Pakistani father made him a little dark for the prairies, bleach was his best friend, including during covid, that's how he survived.

Habs will play 3rd wheel and eat a bit of salary for a 4th round pick...on friday.

There go, that's your week in Habs land.

Lots of noise around Armia and Anderson. Hard to move I agree but who knows!

Most big moves should be done at the draft and UFA day.

self made noise from MTL, not sure the Habs want to retain on Anderson for 3 years after this season.

Armia has one year left but he is useful. I don't think you would get more than a turd for Armia with 50
50% retained. You will get close to the same return (3rd or 4th) without moving him and just retaining salary for THIS season. Which means there is almost no incentive to retain salary other than getting rid of Armia.

IF...and it's a BIG IF...someone is getting moved, it is Allen...to break the threesome

Agreed about most of the noise coming from montreal... but The Toronto Sports Network is also making some noise...
