3.3M for Seeler and 4.8M for Sandin...Man Paraykos contract isn't looking too bad
What does Lily get? The stats tell us he is better than Sandin, and it isn't very close. - Santo_44

Hadn't heard that ....Nickie complained about the demotion?
So what you're saying is that Robertson, Lilly, 1st for Larsson and Wennberg is on. - The Law

Best guess on Lilly ...I think he has 2 yrs of control left and arbitration this summer?
1 yr $3.2ish
3-4 yr $4.5ish

This is the one that just pisses me off. The acquire Gustafsson - play him 9 out of a possible 22 games - and hardly play him when he is there. In those 9 games they played him with Liljegren, Schenn, Rielly and Giordano - on the left and right side. Keefe had no bloody clue what to do with him.
So in the offseason, when discussing with the new GM what they needed - somehow a "Gustafsson-like" player was what they concluded they were missing? It must have been because they gave Klingberg $4.1m. I mean if Keefe said that to me and I was the new GM, I'd have been inclined to fire him on the spot! - Monkeypunk
There had to be a story behind Gustafsson.
Washington dumped him - sending a 1st and him for Sandin? Made no sense.
And then the Leafs refuse to use him.
He finished tied for 30th for PPG for defencemen last year, so don't tell me the Leafs couldn't figure out a way to get him in the lineup.
It was all just very strange. |

I missed that. Robertson just said that recently? - bryant
I don't listen to the 32 Thoughts Podcast - or even the summary - but I did see this posted on Instagram, "On 32T Elliotte Friedman mentioned that Nick Robertson wasn’t happy earlier in the year. He understood why Robertson was being sent down, as he isn’t waiver eligible. Toronto wants him back this season after the trade deadline. However, if he remains unhappy and still holds value, they will likely trade him."
There's a lot to unpack in the comment because he was likely unhappy when he wasn't playing earlier - and he does still continue to be benched in favour of other players, having sat 20 times this year. I would be unhappy about that as well, but he has been in more than out of late. The thing that would probably irk me, if I were Robertson, is that he puts in an honest effort every night and is only 22 and getting better - and yet the coach sits him every few games. I'm not sure he deserves it either.
Domi, who I do like, is 28 and not likely to ever get any better at defense. Robertson can still improve - especially with a good coaching staff.
I've said before that I wouldn't give up on him unless the value I receive is equivalent or better because he is only 22 and has had a long way to come to be where he is now with all the injuries. |

It's why I would trade a pick before a prospect or young guy like Robertson. We know what we have in these guys....picks can be Yakupov.

I agree. The knock on him was that he was poor 5v5 - but he controlled the play. Also if Keefe was so f'n reluctant to play him then why was he onboard with signing Klingberg when he has been worse than Gustafsson in the past few years?
There are brain farts wrapped in brain farts here.

Nothing in his play warrants giving up in the guy. Only move him if he brings significant trade value (not likely) or if they think he’s going to be a problem when he hits RFA status |

He’s a non physical top six winger and he simply won’t land that job in Toronto while Marner and Nylander are here. Talent isn’t the only thing that needs validation to justify keeping someone. The leafs simply do not need him. |

One factor with LTIR is that some uncertainty is involved with injury and recovery timetables. These can be subjective and vary from case to case. Some bodies defy expectations and take shorter or longer periods of time than projected. Sometimes there are complications from surgery or setbacks during rehab. Or, some absolute unit or mutant might bounce back far quicker than projected.
Not every injury or recovery follows a set progression.
So, expecting a player back for the postseason (or not) might not actually play out that way.
For whatever reason, I am fairly convinced it will take Toronto doing it for the rules to get changed.

Lol. Sorry for pointing out that they can’t easily and may not want to make the change that they are so stupid for not making. - Canada Cup
I never said it was something that was easily done, nor did I ever say the league wanted to change it, perhaps you missed that when you ran to get your soapbox.
The fact that others have carried on the conversation about it being stupid and something the league should/could change should tell you something........

4 picks in the top 3 rounds over the next 3 years.
Moves may be limited for the leafs
What did Florida give up? A 3rd and a prospect?
Edit: looks like its 2 draft picks. |
