One more important note:

He can't coach again in the NHL unless Bettman gives the green light.

I sincerely doubt that will happen.

It shouldn't happen but the team in Arizona should have been moved long ago, the DOPS should be way better at what they do, NHL officiating should be WAY better than it is on a consistent basis.........nothing is every out of the realm of possibility with the NHL - especially if your talking about doing something that makes no sense. lol

I haven’t been following the Canes much this year, do you think they have a chance.
- shack67

They need another piece up front, I think, but they've come a long way from how they started the season. Kochetkov has gotten better as the season has gone on as has the team as a whole.

They desperately need another scorer though. The bottom half of the roster are all the same guy.

This coming from a Detroit fan?

Sure Mary Jane is legal here but you posting that just makes me want to tell you to put down the crack pipe.

I just checked and their record is almost identical to the Leafs. So you’re screwed.

People who knew about sexual assault and did jack poop about it other than to basically ignore it?

Did he go to jail and I missed it?

Make some very public admission of his mistakes, owning up to them and taking accountability for them? If so i missed it (and perhaps he did, I haven't followed everything from him).

If point 1 is true and points 2 and 3 above did not happen then to answer your question - no, i don't think he deserves a second chance as a coach in the NHL.

- Cush29

Fully agree, I don't ever want to see him involved with our franchise, or any for that matter.

Differences aside, do you believe the Leafs really have a brighter future than the Wings at this point in time if winning a cup is the true end goal?

Oh hell, a number of leaf fans are nothing more than chirping jackasses.

As far as I’m concerned is that so long as it’s about hockey it’s allowed. Popularity does not matter.

Don’t get ahead of yourself with the wings. Just look at Buffalo and Ottawa, there are no guarantees in hockey.
All I know for sure is that the Matthews has never missed the playoffs and you have to get in to win.

No kidding!!! None of this is new!! The Leafs have been playing like crap when it matters, for years!! And what do we do?? Well we sign them all up for more, but not without huge raises and no trade contracts!! You have to believe that this is what management wants because they keep signing up for it. You can bank on a first round exit again this year……and then what!? Well nothing of course, we will do it all again next year, because next year it will be different. I can already quote Marners 1st round exit with the press…….uh yeah nobody’s more disappointed than us, we didn’t get it done, gotta find a way, blah blah blah. The next day he’s spotted on the golf course…….am I’m asking, did he already have that tee time booked or was he booking it between the 2nd and 3rd period? Play it again Sam, management loves this team.
- Bullot

yup, nothing really new in this post

tee time was booked at the end of the regular season.

did you happen to notice who his caddy was.

Eh! Eh!

lets get one thing correct. IT's the coach getting out coach all the time (it gets worst in the playoffs because he can't think fast enough).

Put Bobby Mac up with Matthews for a change (whole period)

move Mac mann to center on the second line and JT on his wing this guy can hit and skate

Canes will take a 5th with 1/2" salary retention - is he that bad? douchebag? both?

He can't defend to save his life and they told him they'd try to find him a place to play.

They were offering him up for future considerations but nobody bit, so now they're offering to retain.

He denies that he knew until later.

"Quenneville has said he was unaware of the allegations until this summer, a stance he reiterated as recently as Wednesday morning. Beach, in an interview that aired Wednesday evening on TSN, said there was "absolutely no way" the then-Chicago coach could deny knowing about the allegations."

He's franking lying:

"The investigation determined that Quenneville was part of a meeting about Beach's claims on May 23, 2010, the same day Chicago won the Western Conference title and moved into the Stanley Cup final. Chicago won the Cup that season, the first of three titles the team won under Quenneville.

"Stan Bowman has quoted Joel Quenneville saying — and this is not a quote, this is my words — saying that the playoffs, the Stanley Cup playoffs and trying to win a Stanley Cup was more important than sexual assault," Beach told TSN. "And I can't believe that. As a human being, I cannot believe that, and I cannot accept that.""

- Atomic Wedgie

That's the hearsay part. I read the report and came out of it with a pretty solid feeling that Quenneville had his role in ignoring Beach's plight.

Look here's my point - if I were judge, jury and executioner, I would find him guilty based on the information that I have available to me.

If I were the legal system, which honestly the NHL should at least try to be closer in alignment with than my gut, I couldn't conclusively say that the facts and the responsibility put Quenneville as a party of interest.

You have Kyle Beach's comments - he has no clue what happened in those meetings. You have Stan Bowman's comments - he definitely does - and if Bowman and a corroborating witness put Q in the room and put those words (or a variation thereof, obviously) in his mouth, then you have a smoking gun. If it's only Bowman, then there's still doubt that Bowman has a motivation to save his own skin.

Even if Quenneville was concerned that it would create a distraction on the road to the cup, the organization should still have fired Aldrich and dealt with the entire situation immediately following. There's no good reason they didn't - and that is most certainly not on the coach of the team.

If the NHL never lets him coach again, that's fine by me - I'm just saying that there is some doubt as to his culpability and some question as to the expectation of him to handle the situation given his role in the organizational hierarchy.

I'm pretty sure he did and it was not granted - but Bettman didn't completely rule it out. I think it was more of a "now is definitely not the time," type of thing.

Mike with some hard truth bombs. This team is not built for tough tight checking playoff style games. Boston embarrassed the Leafs again last night. ( and has done so for the last decade)

Pastrnek is so much better than Nylander.

Nice to see the Leafs making it a very hard night for Marchand. NOT!

Pathetic effort.
