Guys, the Leafs are 8-2 in their last 10.

Lost to Boston who are 4-2-4 in the same stretch.

Why are people panicking?

- Scabeh

Its really simple. A win means nothing because "only playoffs matter".
A loss means everything because "this is exactly how they will play in the playoffs."

One predicts the future and the other doesn't count.

Mike with some hard truth bombs. This team is not built for tough tight checking playoff style games. Boston embarrassed the Leafs again last night. ( and has done so for the last decade)

Pastrnek is so much better than Nylander.

Nice to see the Leafs making it a very hard night for Marchand. NOT!

Pathetic effort.

Are you going to be back in here on Thursday if the leafs beat the bruins?

feels a bit harsh.
at 5v5 the leafs had the better of the results...except the goals part.

The Boston goalie was really good. better than the leafs

but it just feels like more of the same..i get that. can tilt the ice in your favor, but Boston capitalizes on everything and makes you pay

Mike also didn't think the Leafs would get out of the first round last year.

Differences aside, do you believe the Leafs really have a brighter future than the Wings at this point in time if winning a cup is the true end goal?
- Diller

Yes i do, I assume you do not and that is fine.

Off point to make.

The Leafs have failed to the Cup - yes. But they have had a team that can at least compete for it and realistically could win for years. Too soft, not intense enough - whatever you want to think is the reason personally. But regardless the team has the talent to win a cup.

Wings - we hope that we are building towards something like that. A team that year after can compete for a cup. Looks like it. But we still don’t know.

So are the Leafs closer - yes.
Will Wings be in a place to challenge for a cup - looks like it but we just don’t know.

Yes I am. I am a Leaf fan. But I can see how flawed this team is. And it is the same flaws they have had for a long long time. They are not built to have lasting success in the playoffs.

No, but it is a measuring stick for how much attention you should pay to Mike's opinions.

I share Mikes opinions on this. And these opinions have been proven correct for a long time. It is totally ok if you have other opinions. Just prepare yourself for more disappointment.

Meh. This team has smoked solid opponents, and they've been smoked by lesser opponents. You never know what you're going to get.

I'm a Toronto sports fan, of course I'm prepared for disappointment.

This is the pain that unites us all(Toronto sports fans). I unfortunately have become a little jaded by the constant disappoint. But I will be cheering as hard as anyone once the playoffs start.

Jesus christ, half the people in hockey thought the leafs would get bounced in the first round.
It was pretty 50/50.
So thats a pretty dumb thing to bring up.

That's the hearsay part. I read the report and came out of it with a pretty solid feeling that Quenneville had his role in ignoring Beach's plight.

Look here's my point - if I were judge, jury and executioner, I would find him guilty based on the information that I have available to me.

If I were the legal system, which honestly the NHL should at least try to be closer in alignment with than my gut, I couldn't conclusively say that the facts and the responsibility put Quenneville as a party of interest.

You have Kyle Beach's comments - he has no clue what happened in those meetings. You have Stan Bowman's comments - he definitely does - and if Bowman and a corroborating witness put Q in the room and put those words (or a variation thereof, obviously) in his mouth, then you have a smoking gun. If it's only Bowman, then there's still doubt that Bowman has a motivation to save his own skin.

Even if Quenneville was concerned that it would create a distraction on the road to the cup, the organization should still have fired Aldrich and dealt with the entire situation immediately following. There's no good reason they didn't - and that is most certainly not on the coach of the team.

If the NHL never lets him coach again, that's fine by me - I'm just saying that there is some doubt as to his culpability and some question as to the expectation of him to handle the situation given his role in the organizational hierarchy.

You don’t need to meet a legal standard of guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to fire someone. The findings of the report from the law firm were sufficient

Still has nothing to do with not being able to have nice things.

Ooooh the 2nd round, where they won 1 whole game. Huge achievement. Well for the leafs i guess it was.

Besides, fans can feel how they want, unreasonable, reasonable or otherwise.

Onto the next game. Its only 1 loss

- Fakepartofme

Nah that is a good take by Wedgie, Leafs can't have a good team as one of the hottest teams in the league because they haven't won a cup. It is a ridiculous take.

Also ..the old latin standard of "I'm your boss and you are fired" is sufficient to fire somebody.

With the #canucks believed to be among those pursuing Jake Guentzel, word is they've had discussions about potentially flipping Elias Lindholm to the #bruins as part of the machinations to make it happen.
