They have sold off all the guys who would be playing now for them. They have picks that might matter in 4 years or they will suck like other draft picks. I think its a smart idea to not worry about the future while in a window.

I will say that while Vegas has made many good moves, you have to remember how they started - they had 30 top 9 forwards or top 4 defensemen or good goalies - and that was only 7 years ago. That is a lot of talent to acquire and then move around. They had the assets to swing their Richard around and make some bold moves. No one else had that quantity of cost controlled assets - that they simply plucked away from other teams. Other teams had either existed in a microcosm of team dynamics where the salary of player A is still influencing player B - or they were overpaying to acquire in UFA. Both Seattle and Vegas were gifted the greatest thing of all: a significant number of cost controlled assets.
