I honestly don't like any of the defense names I keep hearing. Hanifin was the only one who might move the needle a little for the Leafs or Lightning. (frank) Vegas. Who is their GM anyway?
Briesbois is going to overpay for some 3rd pair defender. Hanifin liked Tampa according to the reports. If that is true, and Briebois didn't get him, then it really speaks to how depleted Tampa's cupboards are.
Makes moves like Jeannot look super questionable now that it cost him getting Hanifin.

I saw Neil at Copps Coliseum during the first Gulf War, paid $40 from scalpers
What a sellout, f him - mr.sir
I disagree.
If Neil Young sold tickets for $40, they would all be gobbled up and sold again - tickets would still be $1,000 for the average Joe on the street.
Tix are $1,000 because that's what the market will bear.
What artists should do (tipping my hat to Taylor Swift here) is charge what the market will bear, and pay good wages to everyone - the roadies, the ticket takers, the t-shirt hawkers.
And something I've never understood - why don't more artists release concert movies? Seems like an easy way to bring in more fans - and make more money.

Go Leafs. Bolts are shot. - GalacticStone
IMHO, Tanev would have been an even better fit on this team than Hanifin.
Unfortunately, Leafs just don't have - or are unwilling to move (Cowan, Minten) - the assets to acquire a big needle-mover this season.
Hopefully, in the off-season a player like Tanev signs here.

Agree about Tanev for the Leafs. I wouldn't have minded Tanev in Tampa either. His age and durability gave me some pause, but he's tons better than the dwindling list of names I keep hearing. Maybe Chickenrun would be good, but if Briebois couldn't land Hanifin, then I doubt he has the assets to outbid other teams for Chickrun.
It seems like the Leafs have the assets to land a needle-mover, but they are being cautious with their picks and prospects - a lot more careful than Briesbois has been.

You guys have the cap space for a big move. Maybe not the pieces.
