Return for Edmundson is:

NYI’s 3rd round pick in 2024 Draft & Chicago’s 5th pick in 2025 Draft

Caps retain 50%

I know Dubas wasnt perfect, but Brad is far worse.

A. He sucks.
B. He's left (frank)ing handed.
C. He sucks.
D. He wasn't worth a 3rd because of (checks notes) see points A & C.

I hated it when we signed him, and his transactions has only reinforced that.

He doesn't have much to play with for now.
But this feels like an overpayment.
Ah well.

He sucks but will still play more playoff games this season than the entire current roster of the Habs.

Indeed.

Strong around his net.

Can't skate. Can't defend against a rush in any way.

- BINGO!

I'm just trying to figure out the fit ...can he play on the right?

On the left already
Rielly
Brodie
Benoit
Gio
Lagersson

...Gio's skating again. Is this guy better than Gio and Benny?'

Leafs have some roster dumps/moves coming just to make room.

This was a meh move, but he's big and strong, and we do kinda need that in front of our net. Cap hit is less than league minimum, so there is still time and space to make a bigger splash. Seravalli says they're still making moves.

It's weird. Every 15 games or so he'll turn into Bobby Orr for a couple shifts and blow your mind, then the rest of the time he literally cannot skate.

Like if you want to beat him off the rush all you have to do is turn. He can't.

At least the Caps retained 50%.

They were only paying him 50% of the 3.5 M the Habs signed him for.

So Washington and Montreal are both paying him - now to be a Leaf and the Leafs are essentially paying him league minimum as a depth Dman.

Small victory.

lol

Hoping they got him as there is a bigger deal in the works but I doubt it.

What would we be selling to get some seconds to fatten our stack and get in the game? We mortgaged the future last year.

with what the prices have been, toss a 6 or 7th for him, sure.

but not 2 pick you could use for a decent player

Why pay extra for the retention if there isn't more in the works?

wouldn't you complain if your team traded such prized assets like a 3rd and 5th rounder. most teams get Crosby or Kucherov for that price. 🤔

I can't blame Tree for this. His options sound like he can drop a first and other things to get a guy like Savard or maybe Jenson with term ....or drop mid rounders for guys like Boosh and Edmundson.

I'm not sure I wouldn't have chosen the same path.

If he had some seconds and prospect depth then maybe Tanev was an option.

Well they have a 24 man roster now with Timmins cleared to play and Gio likely not needing LTIR for months since he skated with the team.

Cap space to play with.
