Edmundson should play tonight so he can start injuring Bruins and serve his suspensions early

People on here are going to be really upset/surprised when they realize the Leafs arent getting Parayko - Archaic
Nah. I'll just be disappointed, not surprised.
Fully accepting that an actual addition that boosts the Leafs won't happen.
I very much welcome being wrong on this, though. |

Depends. A non playoff bound team might move a d man for picks/prospects and grab someone like him for free to fill in for the rest of the season. - Dozzer
Good point, it is possible for sure.

Reaves > Edmundson. At just about everything that involves the game of hockey.
I guess it will take some time for everybody to see who this guy really is.
Or hopefully I'm wrong and Joel freaking Edmundson is the magical key to unlocking the cabinet in which resides the coveted cup of Our Lord Stanley. - UsernameUnknown
Can we not just enjoy the fact that Montreal is going to pay a guy to help us hoist the cup?
Lets not forget, Schenn's stats didn't look great last year, but he fit into the system nicely. I'm cautiously optimistic. |

Yup, he does, it’s apparently why Robertson was sent down before, because he is the only one they had that didn’t need to clear. - Dozzer
Yeah, thankfully Robertson could get sent down safely.
I'm still hoping we don't trade him, but I would in a trade that makes the Leafs a lot better, and not just for a rental. |

So the leafs lose him for nothing.....tre get a low pick for him. - Fakepartofme
Especially since I'd take him over Edmundson. |

That's more realistic, but I don't think that's even close to working cap wise. - Whipper

I really don't understand the move. I understand the reductive aspect: SNOT
But I'm struggling how essentially trading Edmundson for Lagesson and 2 picks makes this team better in the short term and long term. - UsernameUnknown
Rolling with experience that’s tougher on the backend for the post season. It’s what they need back there so it does make sense. |

Edmondson played 23 mins a night for the Habs as a cup finalist.
He won a cup with the Blues.
He is 30.
Reaves is 37.
In what way has it convinced you that Reaves>Edmundson? - Santo_44
Maybe I'm underestimating Edmundson. I'm just struggling to see value there. At the very least I'm open to walking back my take and say at best, I'm willing to wait and see how the plays as a Leaf. I just don't like that as a team we're moving away from talent to muck it up in the crease. Which is needed, I don't even disagree. But now it maybe be at the expenses of talented puck movers and increased rush chances against, which is a new worry of mine. |

Keeping him simply doesn’t make sense for the leafs tho.
He’s a top six non physical winger. In order for him to get his ideal role on the leafs Marner or Nylander need to go down (injured obv.). He isn’t the physical net crashing type like Knies or Bertuzzi.
So he will never be anything more than a guy they use as a backup because he’s not strong enough as a two way guy to be a full time 3rd liner and he’s nowhere near physical enough to be a 4th. |

The problem is he's signed for a billion more years, not sure of any precedent of a legit player with a decent contract and term being retained, so not sure there are any comparables.

Winning 2-1 ....it's the way out of the East against Boston and Florida.
Tight checking, good goaltending, keep them on the outside, clutching grabbing spitting is allowed, and let your skill guys have two moments to shine. That was Florida's path to the Cup last year. |
