I don't know anything about the prospects but the Athletic guys say they're all "not great" ..."decent". So it looks like Bunting, a 2nd rounder and some low ceiling prospects.
I think he's in tough ...has to try to keep them competitive rather than blowing it up and getting picks. - The Law
Ponomarev is probably a 3C right now but that's probably also his ceiling. Aggressive checking guy who isn't huge.
Koivunen has 2nd line talent, but isn't a great skater. He's putting it together in Finland this year though finally so we'll see but he struggled with the speed of the AHL last year.
Cruz Lucius is nothing.

Nothing is set in stone. It's like that human walrus from the Leafs documentary said - they have enough demons to fight. The myth of Boston is one of them - but it's a dragon they've always needed to slay in my opinion. Boston is anathema to them.
In order for them to beat Boston they would have to be the team that they could be, but keep refusing to be - standing up to adversity, playing through it, not taking the easy path, being responsible . . .and you need your star players to outshine their star players.
So I think any sane Leaf fan has a reason to doubt they will do it, but there's no reason that they can't other than they simply don't want to. - Monkeypunk

(frank) Boston. (frank) Calgary.
(frank)ing Duclair with zero retained? What? Huh? Never been a big Duclair fan, I am worried that Briesbois is going to resign this guy with term. Briesbois hates rentals. Tampa needs depth offense, but this guy doesn't move the needle much, if any.
Briesbois needs to write this season off and prepare for next. Vasi is not 100% or even close.
With Vasi regularly letting in 2 soft goals per game and 4+ goals on the regular, I just don't see the point of adding to this roster right now. Let Vasi heal up in the offseason and hopefully regain his $9.5m form. |

It could end up being a blessing in disguise
If π² grabs another strong LH shot, preferably one who could also fill in at 3C, PK, and provide leadership qualities
Also, interesting that number 38 is available π€
Letβs go! π |

sorry to our TB fan, but they are poopting the bed, and could miss the playoffs...but I would be down for that. - senstroll
Looks like tb, florida and islanders could all be fighting for the last wild card. Maybe Detroit if they have a couple losses in a row.
Could be a good finish. Detroit and Philly are probably Floridas choice to face in the playoffs. I doubt they want tb or islanders. |

No need to apologize. I've been expecting this for weeks. I will not be shocked if Tampa misses the playoffs. Vasilevskiy is their most critical piece and he is far from 100%. Tampa may as well start their AHL guy. If Vasi doesn't regain his pre-surgery form, Tampa is in a lot of trouble. They have relied on Vasi far too long to cover up their defensive warts. |

I'm hoping it forces them to try Domi on the left of 34 and 16. Add a C with some 2-way chops to play with William and Bert.
I like the new 'hound line' with McManimal, JT and YarnCrock. |

It might sound weird but I'd rather them face Boston then Florida by miles.
Florida looks like the team to beat in the East. Boston comes with the built in motivation you'd hope they'd find. |

Feels like Rental prices are low. Not getting big hauls for them anymore.
Pens had one of the worst prospect pools, so it helps. - senstroll
Rental prices were reportedly "absurd" by one of the GMs. I think with so many teams still close enough to the playoffs, tough to convince season ticket holders you're "going for it" when you're dumping important players at the deadline. |

Boston is weaker on paper but they play as a team, great leadership.
Florida is better on paper and gained a lot of experience last year.
Both teams play a hard nose game in the playoffs...not the Leafs favourite thing to do |
