Does anyone seriously think this Leafs team can ever win in the East??

This is why I’m always hitting the panic button.

The window is pretty much closing now.

The team isn’t built the right way, and by the time they figure that out, their two big stars Matthews and Marner will be almost 30.

This core would’ve won a cup by now if they’re ever going to win one.

What are we even doing here anymore? We all spend so much time following this team, but it’s not even a mirage anymore. There’s no oasis.

No. At the end of the day they are just not competitive enough from the drop of the puck to the final whistle. They float around trying to rely on skill. That wont win a cup. They lose board battles all the time and are afraid to play straight line hockey.

And it appears all teams need to do it shadow Matthews and he cant play through that. And the other guys on the ice cant seem to take advantage of that…

I dont even know what can do. Everyone is locked up to huge money. Maybe fire Keefe and hope to catch lightning in a bottle?

It’s just recent history. That is all we have to go on. Big no shows, epic collapses, let downs, over payed under perform.

The good news is history is not indicative of future performance. Go look at the last two pens cups. They were not favourites by a mile. Neither were the capitals when they won or the blues. Tampa wasn't really the favourite when they won the first of back to back. Neither were Chicago in their first of 3 or the kings when they got into the playoffs in 8th place with like a last game win to seal the deal.

Anyway thanks for avoiding the question. I know you wouldn't answer it because you rather just be miserable and rather be "right" than enjoy the greatest goal scorer the leafs have ever had.
