Maybe. My opinion, this picture doesn't do the situation full justice, admittedly. He still should've shot. Absolutely no reason not to. But I think I know exactly why he didn't.

Matthews routinely buries it from worse angles with an actual (frank)ing goalie in the net. Not really an excuse for that one unless you're a Marner apologist who obsessively cranks on it to Willy whiffs.

If you are going to take a penalty, I'll take a cross-check to the throat to Marchand over a too many men penalty. Lots of grit from the Leafs.
