Off balance so he did not have the power to reach the net, especially at that bad angle.
- jribout

I still rather him take a shot at the empty net than try to make a second somehow equal or better chance of scoring. Plenty of bad angle goals go in all the time.

If I ever missed the net from there, I'd shoot myself.

OK maybe wouldn't have been pretty enough so he held onto it to try a highlight play?

This is why I’m always hitting the panic button.

The window is pretty much closing now.

The team isn’t built the right way, and by the time they figure that out, their two big stars Matthews and Marner will be almost 30.

This core would’ve won a cup by now if they’re ever going to win one.

What are we even doing here anymore? We all spend so much time following this team, but it’s not even a mirage anymore. There’s no oasis.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

you should figure out that greedy big hat female dog is not much more than a wussywhooped pipsqueak ice dancer performing tricks for his next nut for his overindulged baby that dufuss shouldn’t have caved to so now we’re stuck with his disappearing act in the playoffs 🤦‍♂️

he’s no killer and who knows what sort of grownups the laffs could have up and down the lineup year after year🤦🏿‍♂️

floater willi as well🤦‍♂️

we all remember the holdouts that dufuss caved to that set the laffs back 20 more years🤦🏿‍♂️

I was being sarcastic. That is not a bad angle at all.

Maybe. My opinion, this picture doesn't do the situation full justice, admittedly. He still should've shot. Absolutely no reason not to. But I think I know exactly why he didn't.

Swayman was flying across the crease and Marner looked like he thought he was about to have a highlight save against him, so Marner deferred and went for a dipsy-do.

Swayman stopping that is what 50-50? Bad choice. That and Willie's turnover set the tone for the game.

I could go up into the stands, standing room, obviously, since you couldn't afford a ticket that comes with a seat, slap the Pabst Blue Ribbon that you snuck into the arena out of your hand, and head back to the ice and still (frank)ing score on that.

Matthews routinely buries it from worse angles with an actual (frank)ing goalie in the net. Not really an excuse for that one unless you're a Marner apologist who obsessively cranks on it to Willy whiffs.

Agreed.

It's certainly not why we lost, but had Marner scored there, it's a 2-2 game.

Nylander (frank)s up and Marner goofs.

gonna need a coach with a similar mindset who won’t plant his ass on the bench or tell treedying and shammy to get rid of them because they’re not getting pointz🤦‍♂️

Yeah.

What’s the root cause? Coaching?

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Doubt another coach is suddenly going to give the core the courage they seem to be lacking.
Can't blame the coach when the most common denominator in the losses, is the highest paid players either doing a disappearing act, or getting so rattled they forget how to play.

The leafs can out-talent a team but not out-grit them
- Dozzer

Weak game by Woll, a couple of breaks for the Bruins including a brain fart call that put the Leafs down 2 men for 2 minutes. On the plus side, Leafs did show some grit. McCabe cross-checked faker DeBrusk in the side of the head, then cross-checked that rat-bastard in the throat. If you are going to take a penalty, I'll take a cross-check to the throat to Marchand over a too many men penalty. Lots of grit from the Leafs. The resident Hillbilly punched the crap out of Shiiterspoon. Domi tried to fight Marchand, but the coward rat turtled.

Problem is simple. Your post essentially defines all the games they have with Boston. I get what you’re saying, and if this was a once in awhile thing I’d believe with you, but everytime? Come on.

Look at Matthews talking after the OT winner against Buttalo. He looked like he was gonna collapse. Eyes looked dead.

I'd say he's probably one of the guys most effected right now.

It's alright man. This is where the leafs want the bruins. False sense of security.
