It's alright man. This is where the leafs want the bruins. False sense of security.
- Aaron_85

Do the leafs have the talent? Yes. Will they be a bit tougher with Edmundson cobbling up minutes? Also yes. Will the forwards figure out how to play against a tough physical team? Maybe?

Someone in management should send M&M and Willy to a martial arts course for their summer training. They don't need to learn to fight (although that wouldn't hurt). They do need to learn that getting hit, or even hurt a bit, isn't that big a deal.
My old sansei used to get all new members to stand inside a circle of people, who would then shove them around for a minute. I think it was is way of weeding out hot-heads (a few people really couldn't handle it, and would snap), but it taught you to just treat minor contact as nothing.

That , and make them watch re-runs of the 92/93 team (and #93 in particular) Clockwork Orange style.

Look at Matthews talking after the OT winner against Buttalo. He looked like he was gonna collapse. Eyes looked dead.

I'd say he's probably one of the guys most effected right now.

The comment was a shot at Marner's fluffer, and if you had read the whole thread, it was brilliant.

Bravo, good sir.

I think the flu bug did the Meafs in this week. They’ll bounce back.
- Woderwick

Yeah, reading this has been depressing, but as someone who just had the flu Sunday evening, I can tell you it has affected me ALL week. The sky is NOT falling, the Leafs 100% can beat Boston in the playoffs, the only wildcard is their tendie tandem is better than ours. If they underperformed, we got this.

Problem is simple. Your post essentially defines all the games they have with Boston. I get what you’re saying, and if this was a once in awhile thing I’d believe with you, but everytime? Come on.
- Dozzer

I'm not reading too much into it. They've played 4 times. We did outplay them twice, and they outplayed us twice. They deserved the win tonight. Maybe the flu and back-to-back took more of a toll. Maybe they weren't ready - again. Woll wasn't particularly good, but on the other end Swayman didn't have to be since we made it easy on him.

Noting that the first two games were SO and OT wins for Boston as well, which are not indicative of playoff overtime - so that's not really an indictment.

There are many things I'll say that when we compare ourselves to Boston, we don't look good in that mirror - they play together, they play tougher, they play for each other, and they play a sound system, and they play it well.

I think the Rielly crosscheck to Grieg still stands as a possible galvanizing moment, but if 3-4 guys / game are fighting the flu then it's affecting practice, games, rest, and so on. Let's be honest - I don't think they've been particularly good in their last 6 games where they've been 3-3. I am hoping it's illness that will go away, because prior to that they had looked pretty good and it looked like they were building on it.

I think they CAN beat anyone in a seven game series and I think they have the players that can do it. I am not sold that we have the coaching staff to employ a winning system and strategy in the playoffs.

Guenztel to Carolina is done.

Guezntzel at 25% retained and some AHLer and Pitts get: Bunting, 2 ahl'ers and signing rights to a guy, 2024 2nd, 2024 5th round. Both conditional.

2nd becomes a 1st if Canes get to cup finals and the 5th only happens if they win.

I thought that he looked absolutely weak last night and tonight. If he doesn't have the flu, he's shacking up with a vampire and he should knock that poop off.

Can the leafs beat them? Yup. Will they? Won’t lie, I’m concerned it’s no.

Guess that’s what’s bugging me, the leafs, a talented team, always seems to disappear against the bruins. Is the talent there needed to overcome this? Yes. Will it? I’m worrying no.

It's kind of underwhelming. The AHL'ers in question aren't really anything very interesting. Ty Smith going to Carolina is undersized and a poor defender, but he moves the puck pretty well. The 3 guys going to Pittsburgh - Koivunen, Ponomarev and Lucius . . .Koivunen and Ponomarev are probably NHLers. I have to admit I don't know much about Cruz Lucius, but I love his name and if he doesn't make it in the NHL, he's going to make a female dogin pimp.

Put on your Zezel colored glasses, we'll be fine. Let Brad cook tomorrow, get Joel in and acclimated, get everyone over the flu, and we roll. Heck, we're 8-3 with 2 losses to Boston and 1 to Vegas. No shame in that.

Nothing is set in stone. It's like that human walrus from the Leafs documentary said - they have enough demons to fight. The myth of Boston is one of them - but it's a dragon they've always needed to slay in my opinion. Boston is anathema to them.

In order for them to beat Boston they would have to be the team that they could be, but keep refusing to be - standing up to adversity, playing through it, not taking the easy path, being responsible . . .and you need your star players to outshine their star players.

So I think any sane Leaf fan has a reason to doubt they will do it, but there's no reason that they can't other than they simply don't want to.

I get what you’re saying… and maybe they just can’t learn it? The failure of their thinking when it comes to what’s public knowledge.

All I’m trying to say is that they’re capable yet still fail. I hope to be proven wrong but also do not expect it.

In hindsight….

What was the biggest mistake that the Leafs have made in recent memory?

Not signing Pietrangelo in FA 🤷🏿‍♂️

Dubas wants players/prospects over bunch of picks. He's looking for guys to step in now/next year for them. He will likely say you can't replace Guenzt 1 for 1 but to be fair, you weren't winning with him

Our stars dont get mad. They are all passive. Its the same old story. Transplanting toughness around them will not work.

Keefe is a horrible coach.

Woll will not be the Drysden savior. Sorry.

Marner female doged out of the game in the 1st period after Marchand started chirping him with an angry voice.

Matthews same.

Nylander. Sucked. And can really suck.

(frank).JOHN.TAVARES.

Thank you Domi and Bertuzzi for actually giving a (frank).

Pussies don't win hockey.

This fancy poop, back hand passes, dipsy doodle bullpoop doesn't work against tough teams....you know, the ones that actually make the playoffs without $12M contracts and cool stick tricks....teams that play tough hockey.

Skalapy is right, they shrivel like donkey Richards in the cold.

Fancy will not win a Cup. Shoot the fu3king puck at the net and grind your soft wussy asses to the net.

(frank) I hate Tavares and Keefe. And Shanaplan can fu3k off too. Hiding in the corner so he can keep his job.

And PS, I even feel the same when they win. You know the nights where the get lucky enough to scare untalented teams with the stick flick fly bys and absolutely no balls or physicality. Ya, those nights too. Fu3king hate soft hockey and soft hockey players.

CHECK, SKATE AND SCORE...AND IF YOU HAVE TO, FIGHT YOU CU$TS.
