Yeah, same. Gotta slay the dragon. - gravyface
Ya man. Leafs have played Boston really well but the results are always super Leafy. Time to make it unleafy.
Boston's great but Leafs can beat them if they do it right.
It looked like they went for the 'leave a mark' theory last night. Not sure what McCabe was doing early but I didnt hate it. I like Domi on 34's left. I think he'd get 34 and 16 into the game with his post-whistle poop. McAvoy always lines up with 34 ...Domi should have the roll of getting in McAvoy's head/face all series.
On the other end ...fingers crossed the blue line and g'tending holds up. |

You guys still want to trade your first round pick... - Symba007
Nah, doesnt seem like anything of value available for a 1st.
Keep it and move it at draft when better players are available or simple use it to draft a player.
As of now, the leafs dont need to show to next years draft until the 5th.
Im sure Tre wants his scouts to have a high pick at some point |

for me
Leafs don't have much cap space left not much can do but hockey trade
a 5M cap hit D might need to go - dmnted
I'm not sure they'll do much but they've got all the cap space they need.
Current 370k ...but once Lagersson goes down that'll be 1.15M with 24 guys. So if they're adding they'll have 2 guys to drop. If they need to they can waive/trade Gregor and put Gio on LTIR.
So they've really got about 2.75M in wiggle room if they're adding. And they could have more if they dropped from 23 to 22 or 21 on the roster. |

Ponomarev is probably a 3C right now but that's probably also his ceiling. Aggressive checking guy who isn't huge.
Koivunen has 2nd line talent, but isn't a great skater. He's putting it together in Finland this year though finally so we'll see but he struggled with the speed of the AHL last year.
Cruz Lucius is nothing. - BINGO!
That's pretty hurtful.
This guy's name alone is worth at least a 4 out of 10.

I think he moves it in the summer. Tre’s not going to face any real consequences if Leafs go down hard in this year’s playoffs. With $ coming off the books and cap going up he has more of a chance to make changes in the summer and the 1st could be more useful then. |

Woll was not terrific last night and we will need terrific to beat Boston or Florida. I give Woll a break because he was out a long time but he needs to find his A game.
Would you trade Liljegren for two playoff runs of David Savard? |

Assuming the Leafs don't add a D and the flu/poops runs its course how does Keefe set up the blueline Saturday?
Rielly-Boosh
Edmund-McCabe
Benn/Brod/Gio/Lilly ??
Benny hasn't looked as good lately ...Lilly has been poop. I think Brodie stays in.

Tampa outplayed Toronto for stretches of that series that the Leafs ended up winning. It took a mix of players stepping up their game (Rielly), some lucky bounces, and a few calls go their way. But it was mostly the entire Leafs roster manning up and having a distinctively non-Leafy outcome.
If the Leafs can replicate that effort against Boston, they can slay that dragon. Tampa plays a "heavy" game when they want to, and that didn't stop the Leafs.
Having said that, I'd feel better if they could have taken a game from the season series.

Lilly for Savard ...in a heartbeat. I've been pretty vocal about Lilly being moveable b/c he hasn't taken a top 4 spot and he's going to cost too much for bottom pair starting this summer.
Best case would be Lilly, 1st, prospects, things ....for a RHD that's better then Savard ...but if that's not there then Lilly for Savard might be worth a look. |

With bertuzzi playing better maybe it’s time to give him another shot with Matthews and Marner if knies is out. |

can Savard move the puck? Not sure how good it is having Boosh, Edmunson and Savard if they cant get the puck out of their own zone. its great they are tough and all but at the expense of being able to score. which they already have trouble with in tight games

Ya maybe ...they were good last night after Knies went down and Bert went up. Problem was that the moved JT between 88 and Domi and that line struggled.
If they could add a middle 6 centre I think it sets them up nicely to balance out the lines. |

I love the effort Sirsie!
Doesn't sound like Isles or Kraken are moving any of the D we like.
I think it's bandaids today and look for a big trade or signing in the summer when there are more options.

Not sure we need that many puck movers with our forwards. If they can kill a play and just chip it out (something this team can never seem to do), and keep it simple, that's often all you need when things tighten up. Forces the forwards to play a more responsible game too.
In the regular season, I'd agree. With Savard, we'd have quite the collection of Pylons on the back end.
In the playoffs, I'd hate to face our defence. Haven't been able to say that in the last 20 odd years.
Edmundson, Benoit, McCabe, Savard.... all have a nasty streak and are hard to move.
That said, I'd really prefer something better with more term and less years, but who? |

Just peaked at the numbers from last night. Numbers show Lilly was good w/out Benoit and Benoit was bad with everyone. Brodie and McCabe were good.
Subject to a trade I think Keefe goes with ...
