On a train to Montreal.
There’s a group of four women also heading up to go to the game tomorrow night.
They ordered their first round of beers at 10 am.

that just sounds like a bunch of running around chasing the play in your own end.
a defense like that will def kill a lot of offense..again..the leafs struggle to score when the games get tight and series prolong.
but what do I know...nothing has worked so far - senstroll
It can be - but everything in hockey is so fluid and situational that it's hard to pick a specific point to focus on - but if your team D can play up in the zone and protect the blue line well, then chipping it back out to centre without a play to be made can be beneficial because you're trying to force blue line turnovers, which as we see _against_ us, can be very effective in creating an odd man transition.
If you can frustrate the opposition then they start to make dumber players to try and gain the zone - or they dump it and hope to beat you to the puck. I'd like to see the Leafs learn to how to lock down a game that way, but they are bloody useless at it. Even with a 3 goal lead, everything from a back-end puck retrieval is turned into trying to exit the zone with control unless they are absolutely exhausted.
Sometimes simple is better. We saw that executed consistently in the playoffs last year.

Put Marner on LTIR each year?
The Avs model hmm trade all your picks for 2 years and get a Manson and Lehkonen. That one is at least realistic. |

I’m so bored I am about to float the idea of signing Kessel as our #3 centre.
It will be fun to see Frenchie blow a gasket. |

That'd would have required trading 88 for a top pairing Dman.

Ya man. Leafs have played Boston really well but the results are always super Leafy. Time to make it unleafy.
Boston's great but Leafs can beat them if they do it right.
It looked like they went for the 'leave a mark' theory last night. Not sure what McCabe was doing early but I didnt hate it. I like Domi on 34's left. I think he'd get 34 and 16 into the game with his post-whistle poop. McAvoy always lines up with 34 ...Domi should have the roll of getting in McAvoy's head/face all series.
On the other end ...fingers crossed the blue line and g'tending holds up. - The Law
The McCabe thing was a pivotal, game-altering mistake by the refs to call a 5v3 instead of a 4 minute 5v4, which we'd stand a better chance of killing off.
I like the snarl and nastiness this team has; I'm no longer afraid of getting into a dog fight with tough teams, with the exception of our stars, who routinely opt for perimeter or "perfect" plays on the attack, which we know is not effective in the playoffs.
Something has to change there in their mindset.
Mitch not shooting for the open net was a glaring example of what I'm talking about: looking for the sure thing, when good enough was right there in front of him. |

I didn’t see the Marchand hit on Knies, but according to the innerwebs, the O-Dog was saying Marchand doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt that it was unintentional.

He was having a fit on the bench after his goal from the McCabe cross check, coach had to calm him down...3 mins later that play happens. You tell me? |

Don't get me wrong. I'd prefer to have 6 responsible puck movers with a bit of size, but teams with our forward price can't afford that.
If you're left in the position of only being able to afford replacements and oldsters, it makes sense to ice the biggest meanest group you can.
I mean, how well do Lilly and Brodie* actually move the puck when under pressure? More often in the playoffs, they caved in their own end anyway.
*Brodie WAS a good puck mover...2 years+ ago |

Ya, not a penalty.
But, he's right, Marchand very likely knew what he was doing. He was super spazzy pissed on the bench after McCabe sticked in the throat so no doubt he was looking for revenge b/c he's 100% hardwired to seek revenge.

another aspect about Marchand and why he is so good at what he does, is people still are not sure if he did something on purpose or not |

Lou was against the cap and needed to clear space, Toews was not the D he is today. Toews was RFA and the NYI couldn't pay him |

It wasn't really a hit, he just kind of braced himself and let Knies run into him. But yeah, he has a knack of being "present" when players are hurt. |

There are 2 types of rats.
A Bunting that just seems like that obnoxious tool that is fun to have around because he is harmless.
Then a Marchand, that guy who has a screw loose and has a front that is a good friend and family man but constantly finds ways to hurt people. |
