The moves/no moves tell me that Tree has pretty "mild" belief in this team as constructed. Taking the "prove me wrong" approach. Wasn't "all in". Kept his first and prospects.

He believes he stands a better chance to re-tool around the core in the summer. Can't say I disagree.

McPhee, VGK's GM, doesn't get enough credit.

The guy killed it in the expansion draft and built an Cup ready team from scraps, and continues to keep a badass team together every year with great moves.

Leafs need McPhee....and a better coach.

Still like the Boosh and the Edmundson moves by Tre but McPhee is legit when it comes to having balls to make moves.

Yeah I don't know why so many seem surprised by the lack of moves from Tree today. They have too many holes to patch up at the deadline. Of course anything can happen in the playoffs but they aren't likely to go deep this year. Keeping his bullets for the off-season.

McPhee hasn’t been the GM since 2019.

He’s the President of Hockey Ops, the GM is Kelly McCrimmond.

McPhee has never won a cup as a GM.

He built the Knights and was smart in how he did it but also reaped the benefit of a new expansion draft set up that dramatically helped them build a contender more quickly than past expansion teams. He also benefited from the other GM’s being stupid AF in relation to that expansion draft.

Seattle didn’t get that benefit from the other GM’s at all.
