Bieksa has a high opinion of him. He said he’s the kind of player that you want on your team.

I like Bieksa’s takes.

Because you cant trade away every single pick for poopty players. The you get into the situation like today where you have nothing good to trade. I am fine with trading away picks, but for good players.

He is not a good player. He has been in an out of Minnesota's lineup this year, and is his moving the needle? Its wasted assets IMO. In what world is paying a 4th round pick for a bad small 4th line player a good idea?

- Archaic

You trade a pick that's at worst around 115-120th for a guy who is an NHL player with RFA years ahead of him. That 4th round pick - if it even pans out (with the 15% chance it has of becoming an NHL player who plays at least 100 games) - wouldn't be ready for the NHL, based on normal development times for a later round pick, until 2028 or 2029 or so. By which time you would likely have developed a guy with the same skillset or less than you get with Dewar.

It's a nothingburger.

TSN Panel pretty much hates the deal. Confused by the trade.
- Woderwick

Sportsnet guys liked it.

Hard to say if it’s good or bad until he plays and the offseason as he’s an RFA end of the year.

I hope he can bring some enthusiasm and scoring to the bottom 6 (wherever he lands).

People writing him off before he has even packed a bag to come to Toronto are insane, let the guy play and see what Tre got or didn’t get.

It’s a 4th round pick FFS and he’s a 24 year old who has played all year at the NHL level and scored 10 goals on the 4th line in (frank)ing Minny.

Gregor has 5 goals this year and is 25.

Maybe he’s being viewed by Tre as a Gregor upgrade and Gregor is going down to the Marlies or press box.

They are talking impact at center. What do they do? Who plays where? Who is bumped?
Move Kampf to 3rd. JT up. Domi back to wing where he sucked jizballs.
Don’t play him at center…problem solved.

I get the feeling Brad's more of a dump the toys on the floor for Keefer to muck around with kind of a parent.

Weird, SN LOVED it! Biz, Bieksa, etc all had good things to say.

I respect Biz's opinion.

- Whipper

I can’t watch the tsn version anymore. Button and a couple of others ruined it for me.

Perhaps Knies is wounded and this Dewar guy is a depth move. I don’t think 5’10” and 183lbs will help with the “heavy” game!! We have a number of guys moving on this summer, so, we will see what Tree can do. I see the Leafs going no more than 5 games into the 1st round. That’s pretty sad when you have 3 of the top 10 paid players in the league. No worries, it’ll be different next year.

All baffled that he's a C .......ignoring that he's also winger. That's a lot of overpaid overthink going on for the panel.

Two thirds, two fourths, and a Marlie for 2 solid NHL defensemen and a defensive bottom 6 NHL C.

The deadline was handled extremely well

He’s played 57 games in the NHL this year which is 2 more than Gregor and he has 5 more goals than Gregor.

Bad day eh. Jesus.

You never know anything can happen in playoffs especially (injury, hot tender, etc.) but damn. The first round match that already bullies this Leafs team got more physical and mean. Yikes.

He doesn't have to be a centre - but having centre depth in the playoffs in case of injury or more guys who can take faceoffs (Dewar isn't great @ 47%, but there are worse) when the line's centre is waived isn't necessarily a bad thing.

True, but Bieksa?!?

He helps on our PK, and that is HUGE. Plus, Honey Badgers are f@cking incredible

Honey Badgers are solid, no question. High quality badgers.

What marlie was sent packing?

The deadline was exactly what i expected, low picks for cheap fillers with size.
Glad he didnt trade a 1st for tanev.

I completely agree. For what Tre had to work with, he addressed our biggest weaknesses effectively.

He’s got 10 goals in 57 games on a third line.

As for in and out you’re completely wrong, 80 games last year and he has only missed 6 this year due to an injury that took him out in late January and early February.

- Dozzer

I heard that from TSN, so thats ok if its wrong. Either way, he is not worth a 4th round pick. This reeks of poor asset management.

Lagesson was the Marlie. He wouldn’t have been back without a boatload of injuries.

And I’m with you on this, I like what Tre did this year. Big moves would have been a mistake.
