Tre shoulda got us a new coach at deadline 🤣

Cringing at the incoming Keefe blender new toys till end of season and beyond

The only real question I have is who will step out of a C role if anyone.

Also I know people won’t like it but the new defensive pairings may no longer include Benoit.

Rielly Lyubushkin
McCabe Edmundson

Some players who moved today that I wish we traded for:

Kostin
Maroon
E Johnson
Hertl ( that deal makes no sense 🙄)

- mr.sir

The only guy I'd want is Hertl and even then . . .I don't know. He's 30, has never been a PPG player - even with the 17% retention, $7m salary for the next 6 years of his decline - and it cost them the equivalent of Easton Cowan and a 1st. Now THAT is a lot to pay.

Kostin, Maroon and Johnson . . .barf.

Faceoffs and then over to the wing. His days in the middle aren’t going to be too much longer. If not this year maybe next he gets bumped out of the role. It will make him cheaper too for the next contract.

Vegas adds Tomas Hertl, Noah Hanifin and Anthony Mantha this week. Wow.

They couldn’t have had that much more LTIR than the Leafs..

Come on Tre….

- dozerD10

The reason Vegas is bull$hit is that they have ALL that LTIR coming back this year. The Leafs LTIR are legit, career ending injuries.

Acting the Fulemin
@ATFulemin
i gotta say it's a little funny how we got half of Canada up in arms over whether Matt Murray, who is Mr. Glass, was in fact injured. meanwhile Vegas has an LTIR bill of one trillion dollars and used it to buy an all-star team

Kostin was a beast, when motivated

Surely Keefe could ignite that 🔥

Rather have Buffoon, than play against him

Given the price of a 4th for EJ -RHD 6’4” 225 lbs - fine

I was thinking about it this morning. What is to stop the Leafs from approaching banks, saying "put AM in your commercials for $2M/year, and we'll give you a $2M break on advertising on Sportsnet." Aren't there a billion ways to skirt the system to attract players?

Leafs trade deadline, percentile ranking in hits per 60 (past two seasons):

Connor Dewar - 87th percentile among forwards

Ilya Lyubushkin - 89th percentile among defence
Joel Edmundson - 79th percentile

Prioritized physicality this time around.

Liljegren isn’t going to be the 7th. He’s literally their second best offensive d man

They’re is simply no way Keefe has the stones for that… if that didn’t work, he’d be hung in effigy from the scoreboard between periods…

I love Benoit but if he’s in your top four you’re not going anywhere and you’re a pretender…

Hell, he didn’t even play top four for us….

Yeah I’m willing to assume he will become the 7th. His partner plays either side so he can pair up with Edmundson fine side-wise. Will they mesh? Remains to be seen.

He isnt

And he has been great here

Far better than Anaheim. Sometimes players like that struggle on a poop team with a poop system

For sure we can see things differently - Kostin - bigger, but Dewar offers more of what we need (PK - ours is f'n atrocious). Maroon is utterly useless. He was last year and this year he's older, worse and coming off of back surgery. EJ is probably no better than Boosh - in fact I think he's notably worse (bias though - I don't much care for EJ's game).

The Leafs TDL didn't wow anyone. It wasn't good. It didn't suck. It was just very, very meh. I sincerely don't think any of those 4 would have done anything for us.

On the back-end last year we got McCabe and Schenn . . . this year we get Boosh and Edmundson. Last year probably got the edge because McCabe is better, but there's more overall physicality and strength added this year I think.

American players that’s for sure.

Matthews for instance only gets paid league minimum through the year meaning other than Ontario games he barely gets taxed because he doesn’t even make $10K a game. So in Florida for instance he plays 4 games but pays next to no taxation because he earns less than $40K in Florida during a year.

He only has high tax rates in Ontario where he’s slightly past the high income level and in Arizona where he gets the rest of the salary for the year as a bonus on July 1st. So instead of paying an interest rate of 53.53% (Ontario) on that “bonus” money he only pays 39.5% (Arizona).

I don't think doing nothing or barely anything at the TDL is a good thing but it is hilarious that most cup winners did (frank) all at the TDL

The most important post you'll read on Trade Deadline Day:

Think you need a marquee acquisition to win the Stanley Cup?

Here's a complete list of near-deadline acquisitions by Stanley Cup winners in each of the past 10 seasons with each acquired player's final regular season points total:

Vegas Golden Knights '23

Ivan Barbashev (45 points)
Jonathan Quick (.882 / 3.41 GAA)
Teddy Blueger (16 points)
Dysin Mayo (0 points)

Colorado Avalanche '22

Josh Manson (16 points)
Nico Sturm (20 points)
Artturi Lehkonen (38 points)
Andrew Cogliano (16 points)

Tampa Bay Lightning '21

David Savard (6 points)
Antoine Morand (AHL)

Tampa Bay Lightning '20

Barclay Goodrow (26 points)
Anthony Greco (AHL)
Blake Coleman (32 points)

St. Louis Blues '19

Michael Del Zotto (10 points)

Washington Capitals '18

Michal Kempny (10 points)
Jakub Jerabek (8 points)

Pittsburgh Penguins '17

Frank Corrado (0 points)
Mark Streit (27 points)

Pittsburgh Penguins '16

Justin Schultz (18 points)
Dustin Jeffrey (2 points)
James Melindy (ECHL)
Daniel O'Donoughe (AHL)
Matthias Plachta (AHL)

Chicago Blackhawks '15

Andrew Desjardins (10 points)
Antoine Vermette (38 points)
Kimmo Timonen (0 points)
Spencer Abbott (AHL)

Los Angeles Kings '14

Steve Qualier (AHL)
Marian Gaborik (30 points)
James Livingston (AHL)
Brayden McNabb (0 points)

Chicago Blackhawks '13

Michal Handzus (8 points)
Kirill Gotovets (ECAC)
Max Sauve (AHL)

Ivan Barbashev is the only player listed with more than 40 points. No player had more than 45.

Today, the pundits will tell you who won the trade deadline based on who pulled in the biggest names, but in reality, the team that wins the trade deadline can only be determined by winning the Stanley Cup.

I have no issues with Dewar

Just looking for more toughness vs Bruins
