Pens are back to a 22 man roster with Guentzel's LTIR gone. They can't actually call up a bunch of young players. Also have to deal with the post deadline call up limit. - Tojo.
Does that hold true with Harkens out long term?
Also they should send down Gruden. |

Guentzel's going to get to experience suiting up for Rod Brind'amour and playing in a well balanced lineup with a lifelong family friend in Brady Skjei, and he's going to sign an extension in Raleigh before July 1. - BINGO!
Good luck to you and your Canes! |

If they put him on LT they will. Assuming they will do that to call Puustinen or Shea back up (probably both with Ruhwedel gone).
Gruden, Puustinen, and someone else were sent down to clear cap and be eligible for AHL season. Puustinen stayed with team. They have room for one call up to get to 22, 2 if Harkins goes on LTIR. I just wouldn't expect a mass call up of everyone they might want to look at |

Bunting was skating on PP1 in practice, I didn't catch lines. |

We don’t have the talent in WBS to merit mass call ups. The way I see it the only two I really care about are Puustinen and Poulin. But sullivan’s still talking about playoffs in pressers so I guess we’re stuck watching Gruden suck up PT because Sullivan trusts his warm bodies over guys that might have talent. |

Gruden is a possible 4th line NHL player to me, but agree I'd rather see Poulin.
Looking at cap friendly, they must have put Harkins on LTIR within the past couple hours and recalled Gruden. Puustinen was sent down and recalled yesterday. Koppanen was sent down. With DOC out, no healthy scratches, barely fielding a full team.
Mentioned the mass call ups originally because that's the article, but cap situation won't let them do it. |

Glad Guentz went to the Carolina. Easy team to root for. I like a lot of their players. Staalsy and Guentzal. I Like the coach. |

Its like the 2009 ECF sweep gives me a soft spot for them hahah... I have zero ill feeling towards that team and have respected the way they play under The Bod for a long time now. |

Ditto... I like the way they play. Hoping for a Carolina/Oil final. The NHL might puke, but eff them. |

I'll never like or respect Staal
His move to Carolina really put a hole in the team at the wrong time. Sutter was a plug as a replacement and Dumo took forever to be NHL ready. Even if the #8 overall pick got us a stud, it crippled the roster in the heart of their first Cup window
Didn't like playing 3C and thought he was a 2C, only to go to Carolina and produce like a 3C
The Eric connection lasted what, 2 seasons? Hope he looks back on his career with a ton of regret and what if's |

Some of that's valid (especially his production), but he wanted to play somewhere else with a different role. He was able to leverage a contract into the exact situation he wanted. I have no problem with it. I never held it against Jagr when he wanted out.
I blame Dan Bylsma for the failures of those teams more than losing Staal. |

Even with losing Guentzel, I actually do think we’ll be higher in the standings next year. Tons went wrong this season and I find it hard to believe that comedy of errors will happen again. I think you keep this year’s pick, try to make moves and/or get another good prospect in the system, and defer the pick transfer to next year. - Victoro311
If I told you the pens would have a top 10 defensive team but be completely anemic on the power play AFTER trading for Smith and Karlsson you'd have likely laughed at me until you were blue in the face.
I think next year could be a lot different.
